With USPS being so unreliable I just stopped buying on line all together. Last summer they lost two pkgs only to be found months later back at the vendors door. That was just two of the many very late shipments I got. But I got it in my head that I should get a uwell Crown tank. So I ordered from a good vendor and it shipped quickly. I normally have stuff delivered to my work but for some reason I shipped to my house. On Thursday I checked the tracking and it said delivered on Wednesday. I didn't check my mail Wednesday so I'll check it when I get home today, Thursday I said to myself. No package. Hmmmmmm. What could have happened? So now it's Friday and still no pkg. checked tracking again just in case it changed. Nope, still shows delivered two days ago. Then I thought "Hey, I have video surveillance of that part of my house, I'll just take a look". Sure enough, it was STOLEN out of my mailbox!!! Two little kids waiting at bus stop looking through all the neighbors mailboxes. I'm sure they had no idea what the object in the pkg is. Once they "fought " to get it open. I have filed a police report tonight. I don't know which house they live in but the sheriff will find them easily. We have very good photos of them.

I think those two are not going to get to keep much of their Halloween goodies this year.

This is exactly why I went and got a UPS store mailbox last year.was going to be temp but it ended up being super helpful so I kept it.

Amazon, guitar junk, pc parts, vape gear etc. Way too much stuff sitting at my door.

Never have to worry about mail, signing for a package, or when they will deliver something, get a text when it arrives and I stop in when its convenient and having a physical street address to link to cc, bills, and banks works well. Everything and anything gets sent there now, I'm sure other mailboxes could be cheaper.

6 months ago I told myself to go get a PO box. But I didn't listen to "me" :( Before I order one more thing, I will have a PO box.

I leave for work at around 4:00 am, so i'm not around to see these kids that stole from me. I've half a mind to just go door to door with the photos and ask "Do these kids live here? " Would I get in trouble for doing that?

Every Christmas season, I package up some landmines from the dogs and make pretty presents complete with nice wrapping paper and bows. I then leave them in the back of my truck while I go shopping. Without fail, every single year that I've been doing this, the packages are gone when I come back out of the store.

They had to purposely open the tail gate (bed has a cover) and peek inside. So yeah, I get a good chuckle every year after those packages turn up missing. :D

Not unless they have no trespassing signs posted. I know I would be knocking on a few doors.
If you get a Yes, or no but, answer. Stop there, return home and inform law enforcement of their location.

Ugh. Don't get me started on the USPS. over a dozen 2 Day "Priority" deliveries that took close to a week. I guess they are only a priority to the folks waiting for them to arrive. The only reason I still pay the extra postage on them it that you get better online tracking and insurance. At least I know what zipcode my packages are in when they are late getting here.

Well, I would make some posters (with pictures from the surveilance), and put them up all around the neighborhood (particularly around the Bus Stop). You have several options as to the wording; the safest might be a "Community Watch Alert" approach, where you caution other neighbors that their mail may not be safe, and ask them to immediately call 911 if they see similar thefts occurring or are missing items from their mailbox.

Then I would go to their school and ask at the front desk for permission to post one at the school entrance (if nothing else, this should get you sent to the principal's office!) Once you are there, you should explain that what was stolen was some vaping equipment, and you're very concerned that the little brats will start vaping; if not nicotine then who knows what? Explain that you are very eager to protect the innocent children, and would like the equipment returned to you so you can be sure it is not in the hands of those little f.. umm, impressionable young people.

By the way, you said you filed a police report - did you also file a complaint with your local post office? The police may or may not take it very seriously (some departments are reluctant to pursue what they see as "hijinks", particularly if the kids are young) but the post office will take this VERY seriously, and they do have the power to back it up.
