Concentrate on the product and how it performs, there are different kinds of Vapers, their styles, their wants out of products.
A 'pro' to one person may be a 'con' to another person.
A Company(s) might like your review and ask you to review one of their products, others will ask you but will want you to buy it first.
Some vapers just want free products.

I'm not entirely sure that reviewers would get "upset" with a "review" of their products, unless it's badly done or inaccurate, but plenty of folks here will do a mini-review of products they enjoy.

I'd have to say most reviewers start out with products they purchase, and vape companies become interested if they are skillful reviewers who have developed an excellent fan base/youtube followers and etc. That takes time (and vaping knowledge) to develop. It certainly won't hurt to be a hot chick scantily clad (if you can pull that off) if you'd like to generate "interest."

With that said, I look for reviewers whose knowledge I trust, and I very, very rarely will use them for mod "selection" more how to operate my gear correctly, and they're usually dudes in garages who've been doing that for a long time and their reviews are "trusted" as much as they can be.

It's never too late in the game to get into reviewing, I guess, though I do think that there are a lot of reviewers of vape gear out there with followers already, and are well-known and trusted to the vape community, so it may take time and effort to develop your following, but if that's your true calling, then go for it. You can always review something and solicit feedback about your review and etc. But reviewing these days isn't really about obtaining free vaping gear (though it can be a nice bonus I guess) there are reviewers who are so well-respected that they're actually helping some makers design items. So, it's kind of not so much a ground floor industry anymore....

How long have you been vaping, and what are your reasons for wanting to become a reviewer? The answers to that may give you a hard "yes" or "no."

Good luck deciding.

I do know manufacturer reps "scout" forums. On another forum that I have been on for a long time, I was approached by an Eleaf rep out of the blue. It was kind of funny in a way. Her English was very broken. "We read you posts, we very impress". Eleaf sent me a kit and I did the review as promised. I have no idea what they were impressed with or if they will ever ask me to do another. I'm not sure I'm too excited about doing another as it was a lot of work. I don't think I quite hit minimum wage given the value of the kit, lol. On that site I did do impromptu write ups now and again on products that I either thought were really good or really bad just to help out other members on the forum. I did not use any review "format" in those writings at all. Simply I bought this and it does this or doesn't do that. It kind of hits me as the rest of the entertainment industry. Who knows when you will attract the attention of someone who may ask you to do something for them. As far as soliciting manufacturers or sellers to do reviews for them, I have no idea. I could do one on occasion if asked but I would not want to have multiple reviews "due". That would kill the joy of doing them for me.

I was wondering how people become a reviewer. I know anyone can buy something and give a review about it, but everything is about brand merchandising now and I️ don’t want to get into trouble by reviewing someone’s product
Welcome and glad you joined.
I think the more you read about the subject, the more you will know.

Hi and welcome. Like @Walee I sorta backed into it. I write up the pros and cons of gear I have, or enter into technical discussions with other owners of the same stuff. Occasionally, some manufacturer or other will send me something and ask me to write it up, so I do. They may not love me any more; hasn't happened in a while. I'm OK with that. I do this for me, not them; and a free gimme isn't enough to get me to lie to anybody. Especially if its a piece of cr@p and they want me to praise it.

The Vaping industry kind of reminds me of the Star Wars movie franchise.

They keep churning out the same old crap but continue telling the public it's something new.

How many Star Wars movies have they made now ?. And every single one of them is about the rebels fighting the empire. And i haven't even seen the 7th installment.

Compare that to Star Trek. Each new movie is about something new, and there is nothing predictable.

So what will the next Star Wars movie be about !!!?, i wonder !. And they haven't even written it yet.

Spoiler : It will be about the rebels against the empire (Yawn).

Here's my vaping products review :

"They produce vapour !."

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Yet Star Wars continually outsells Star Trek at the box office.

I understand Star Wars is extremely popular.

I just think that it completely relies on special effects. The backbone, or basic premise shows a complete lack of imagination which i'd put down to pure laziness, there is no progress in the story. All efforts are devoted to the visual effects which are the hook for it's success.

Star Wars is being re-told !, just using a different angle. "Recycling" is probably the best way to describe what's happening.

We already know what the next movie is going to be about, and the one after that, and so on.

No one can say that about any other movie. The writers are too afraid to diversify so we are stuck having to listen to the same boring political story, and Star Wars is fundamentally based around politics.

10 out of 10 for consistant visual effects. 0 out of ten for story telling. Over all the movie is completely let down by the writing, which is lazy, complacent story telling at it's worst. 5 out of ten overall.

Fool the audience once, shame on the writers, fool the audience twice, shame on the audience.

I'm assuming you have watched all of the movies.

Let's just take 1-6 as a whole, ignoring ewoks and Jar Jar.

Episodes 4-6 were a combination of different mythological inspirations combined in a traditional Heros tale. Story WAS what sold Star Wars 4-6. Of course ILM was created theough the work on the movie, and for the time the effects we're great (and arguably still hold up well) but those of us that experienced the movies in the 70's/80's will attest, the story of Luke, Vader, Leia, Han & Chewie were the draw.

And the cool action figures/toys.

Star Wars is being re-told !, just using a different angle. "Recycling" is probably the best way to describe what's happening.

You're aware that the story didn't end at 6, right? You see anretelling when in all actuality it is one story told in episodes, as Lucas was inspired by the serials such as Flash Gordon. You're not watching retellings you're watching the continuation. This was never a secret.

No one can say that about any other movie. The writers are too afraid to diversify so we are stuck having to listen to the same boring political story, and Star Wars is fundamentally based around politics.

Star Wars is a heros tale. Since the "political story" is the basis for what leads to the Rebellion it had to be told. Is it as entertaining? Probably not. Is it the whole of the movies? Definitely not, and that statement is telling.

This I will leave as your opinion which differs from mine entirely.

Then again I've seen all the movies, your comments have left me believing either you haven't (invalidates most of your opinions) or simply didn't pay attention/understand what you were watching.

In any event, this is a vaping forum not a sci-fi forum.

I have an attachment to Star Wars and Vader in particular.

Guess I was 8 when the movie first came out. My parents took me to see it, I sat in the front row. I was absolutely mesmorized, and when Vader first appeared he was the coolest thing in the movie.

Dad died shortly afterwards. We both bonded even more over the movie, and over Vader. Was the last family thing like that we did.

I've since shared that with my boys, my daughter. My wife seems somewhat resistant to the Force.

For me, part of the love for the movies is also the love of that moment and place in time with my father.

I guess I was about 10 when my dad took me to see it. It was amazing. Loved your story. Have a great New year!
