I would tend to agree with this.
Really, after three years of vaping on Ego Twists I just now learn I need to check for loosening prongs?
Why? What happens if they are loose?
I received an ego charger from the classies, the wall adapter "looked fine" ........then it blew up my kitchen wall socket, and $200 and an electrician later, he said it wasn't my house (all my electric is new and done by the best in the biz) and that it wasn't the USB cable....he showed me how it was the wall adapter (tested it a couple different ways) and one of the prongs that goes into the wall slot was ever-so-slightly *wobbly*......and he believes that is how it shorted out.
A $200 lesson. So now I do use a good lipo bag, as well as a charging strip......because I had my HAND on the wall adapter when I plugged it in and it went BOOM!

because I was plugging it into the wall when it caught fire. The entire wall socket was blackened, and smoke coming out. And the wall adapter itself also smoke blacked, etc.
Bottom line, everybody NEEDS to set up a good "charging station" ...... lipo bag (or home made metal box with hole for cables to come out) placed on a ceramic or tile or asbestos type UL approved pad or cement floor........and if you want to go the xtra mile, preferably out in the garage or somewhere away from your main living quarters. That's where my charging station is now.
Anyway, also check the pin inside the USB cable. Make sure it is solid and also not "wobbly". I just tossed one where it was a little loose inside there. Probably starting to come loose from inside the plastic somewhat. They don't last forever.
Again, like anything else......we need to take care of all our tools. (PV and chargers are just tools.) I see people using power tools all the time with dried out cords that are cracking, etc. and loose bolts, etc. I am a person who takes care of things.....if you bought any of my stuff in the classies where I am the
original owner it is obvious. I've received a few things that were growing "green stuff" inside the connectors. It amazes me that anyone would take care of their stuff like this, and my first thought is always: EGADS! I'D HATE TO SEE THEIR TOOTHBRUSH!
Bottom line though, guys, your cell phone, computer, laptop, microwave, toaster, and other small appliance AREN'T supposed to blow up. Every once in a while they do though, we know this. And yes, quite frankly, if my toaster, which is still pretty new, and which is well cared for and unplugged after each use, blows up and burns down my house....... I"m quite sure my
insurance company would start suing along the distribution path (that is how they do it... the insurance companies battle it out with each other). When my house burns down they have to pay for a new one, and they will go after whoever has the deepest pockets to get their money back.
I had an EPA disaster related to heating oil at a place I used to rent 20 years ago.......and it was a
riot watching them all go after each other. I
f you want to deal with the real ambulance chasers, they are not private individuals......they are insurer's attorneys.
All the way from my landlord's property insurer, to my rental insurer, to the oil company's insurer, and some thrown in that I didn't even know existed........and the list goes on and on. One day, years later, a few checks are exchanged over a conference table somewhere......you never really get to know what happened. They are all cut from the same cloth. Pretty hardened individuals.
