I use the first type you show. I got 10 of them from a US based eBay seller for $7.50.

10 x 18650 16430 Battery Plastic Storage Case Box White | eBay

So tell me again folks, why can't B&M stores offer these at a decent price or even for free with battery purchases? Since most of them are buying everything from China anyway their costs should be lower than mine.

I think that American ecig vendor battery cases and other accessory items are marked up as convenience items that the ecig vendor knows people will pick up when they are ordering juice or atomizers. It's easy to click and add an order and the shipping charge doesn't change. Ebay sellers are obviously facing price pressure from direct China buyers who get them for pennies.

"Slip and fall" lawsuits occur everyday with no news coverage. It is known many insurance companies will make a small settlement just to get rid of the case and avoid court costs even if it is a poor case. I am sure this jerk will get a few bucks but nothing close to his asking settlement. It happens everyday.

They can. They should. Doesn't mean they will.
Then you still have the mech mod shorts, Improperly charged Egos... I don't think we have heard about unprotected batts lately...
It still amazes me that people leave LI batts in hot cars...

I understand that for online sales, what I'm saying is I was in one of the branches of the B&M store this lawsuit is against and they have a sign about how important cases are, but none out with the batteries in the display case. The batteries on display are just standing bare in the case on their negative posts.

To me, it seems like the cases should be factored into the cost of the batteries at B&M's or maybe one price if you buy one battery and free if you buy 2?

Seems way to inexpensive of an item for B&M owners to buy to not at least have on hand, in view with the batteries and chargers.

I guess I got lucky - when I bought my first mech and got the batteries, I got a case free. I still bought another zippered case so that I can clip it to my purse, but I did get the one free. I would love to see B&M's give them free if you bought a battery - It would be smart - but sometimes $$$ wins out, unfortunately.

I don't see how it could really be about the money, my cost is .75 per, B&M has to be able to get them cheaper.

Like when you buy a carton of cigs at a smoke shop, even the cheapies, they give you a free (all be it cheap) lighter.

There are lots of them. The UK seems to have more. Google "e cig fire tacoma" for a good one. When it happens in an apartment building....

I don't know the details of the one caramel linked to, but I suspect another eGo setup gone up in smoke like in the Tacoma incident. Yes, there have been a lot of these lately. Seems to me there is an issue with eGo type setups.

With gas stations selling cheap knock offs and everyone having random USB ports everywhere, we are only going to see more of it.
I'm surprised we haven't heard more in the media about the car fires caused by charging. I have seen more car fires in my area recently and always wonder...
I had a cig lighter USB adapter short my pass-through, but that's why I have a $10 pass-through for the car.

I lost an e-vic to a shorted car cig lighter. The positive wire got knocked loose behind the dash. Heated up and fused the electronic control module and slagged the unit. No explosions, and I suspect the e-vic did what it was supposed to do in that scenario - prevent the battery from going Chernobyl.

Single family housing won't be a problem.
Dunno if I should relay that it was an attempt at humor...

Or find and post some pics of some trailer parks where a small kitchen fire would threaten the whole park...

Or continue my attempt at humor by assuring you several trailers in any legitimate park house several families each.

Sorry, I just have a hard time finding humor in this topic. It's going to happen, and it going to be ugly.
But you are right, I can see neighboring trailers catching fire easily. My concern is in multi-family dwellings where you don't know how stupid your downstairs neighbor is.
I had an upstairs neighbor once who didn't understand how much water a bathtub would hold....
