Vape Smoking Noobie Problems

Hello Everybody,

I'm new to vaping, and to the forums. I should start by saying vaping has helped me definitely quit smoking. Although I do have the occasional craving for a cigarette lol

I have a decent set up but I was hoping somebody could shed some light and wisdom. I've hit a metaphorical brick wall. I purchased two "Ultrafire 18650 batteries" that already crapped out on me. I also purchased an innokin iclear 30 that was just awful.

I have an ego that gets me by with something to puff on but I have a variable voltage mod that is sitting collecting dust because I have no idea where to get a decent batteries and decent tanks. I bought the ego kit but the variable voltage mod was a gift.

I have no problem scrapping what I have and starting over from scratch (I would prefer not too) But I still need specifics on what mods to look into and/or what tanks work better then others

Thanks Any help is very much appreciated.

I bought a Vamo, from Fastech, nitecore charger,4 batts, shipping was free 62.00 I have had it about 3 weeks and love it. Some say get an ego for back up and I do have 4 ego batts, but I need another Vamo,as a back up,as I love this beast. Yes it is big,but I'm a big boy. I use the tanks from Valley Vapes,or Vape Dudes, called the Texas tuff tank,or the 7.99. I was a heavy,2.5 PAD and this works for me.

Hi, just like james said, you can try out the vamo. I have the stainless steel (V3) and it feels really sturdy. As for clearos, Vivi novas work great for beginners like me, they don't leak plus the coils heads are replacable. Batteries wise, you should really go for quality ones like AW. Also go for batteries with IMR chemistry, they have safer and more reliable chemistry then Lithium batteries. I have a XStar IMR 850mah 18350 and a generic over-rated 1300mah 18350. And the Xstar one performed better than the 1300mah battery! Xstar is a pretty reliable brand IMO and you can also try that.

Hello Everybody,

Congratulations! That's the hardest part - you already did it.

I have a decent set up but I was hoping somebody could shed some light and wisdom. I've hit a metaphorical brick wall. I purchased two "Ultrafire 18650 batteries" that already crapped out on me. I also purchased an innokin iclear 30 that was just awful.

Efest and Ultrafire batteries are not well-regarded here from what I have read. You would do better to purchase AW-IMR batteries. These will cost more up front and are harder to find, but last a lot longer and are safer. You also need a good charger, as someone else mentioned. If it's "Ultrafire" brand, it's no good. Try a Nitecore Intellicharger with either 2 or 4 bays, depending on your needs.

The iClear is a top coil clearomizer. Some people love these. I have a few and use them for specific juices. But, in general, they do not perform as good as bottom coil clearomizers (BCC). Because the wicks are at the top of the clearmoizer, you have to constantly tilt your device to make sure the wicks are saturated with juice or the wick will burn. Some don't mind this, others do. On a positive note, the wicks are replaceable for a decent price. I would say you should try a BCC and see if that makes a huge difference - it likely will. And Kanger has some good options with a Pro Tank (and Pro Tank II and Mini Pro Tank), T3S, or an EVOD. Other companies make BCC's too. These will also have replaceable wicks.

I have an ego that gets me by with something to puff on but I have a variable voltage mod that is sitting collecting dust because I have no idea where to get a decent batteries and decent tanks. I bought the ego kit but the variable voltage mod was a gift.

Which VV mod do you have? It may be a much better option and will work with the above mentioned tops/clearomizer.

You may want to look at a Vamo, as mentioned earlier. Those are much larger and heavier than an eGo battery, but they also deliver a much better vape and the battery will last a lot longer, depending on what mAh you get. Also look at the Rider Robust - it is comparable in size to the eGo. Or, you could look into the iTaste VV.

Welcome to the threads and good luck to you!

I'll just add in that you can get good quality batteries and a charger from Amazon. You can get the same stuff from fasttech too for slightly less cash, but the shipping does take a little longer.

Amazon.com: 4pcs Panasonic CGR18650CH 3.6 Volt Li-ion Battery 2250 mAh: Everything Else for 4 of them. Great quality battery and a staple of many vapers.

http://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-i2-Intellicharge-Charger-Battery/dp/B0096U26QQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375338187&sr=8-1&keywords=nitecore+i2 for a great quality charger.

With these two items you can carry on using your setup while you research your next step. Or you can jump in with both feet and get both the batteries, charger and a new APV like a vamo from $54.32 Vamo V3 Variable Voltage E-Cigarette Battery Compartment Set - with Nitecore I2 charger / 2*Panasonic CGR18650CH 18650 batteries at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Just throwing out some links for you to check out - I bought the APV in the last link and it's a great backup device for me - although it could just as easily be a primary for you as you could also use the batteries in your current setup as a backup.
