Hello forum,

Question about the disposable cartomisers and refillable clearomisers from Vapestick.

I've used Vapestick cartomisers for about a year. I like them. Although they're supposed to be disposable I've been refilling them with e-liquid and they seem to work fine (the coils burn out eventually of course).

I bought a few Vapestick clearomisers and used the same e-liquid in them, but I don't like them as much. The vapour they produce seems to be inconsistent and there seems to be less of it than with the little diddy cartomisers. I'm a bit disappointed - I imagined the opposite would be true.

Using the "big" Vapestick Max batteries and an e-liquid which is a VG/PG mix, 1.1% nicotine, menthol flavour.

Am I doing something wrong?!

Thanks.
Alan.

Hi Alan. IMHO, you are experiencing the difference in the wicking material used in clearomizers vs cartomizers.

Clearos generally use silica string as the wick. That smaller mass/volume of silica in the clearo is much less than the entire metal cylinder being filled with polyfill in a cartomizer. Silica was never a great flavor carrier, and doesn't wick as well as polyfill. Polyfill is more like cotton so it is a better flavor carrier and better wick material. However, it will burn if not kept wet. Silica is more forgiving to being burnt; a burnt carto is ruined for life.

Clearos were designed to be easier to fill and replace the coils for beginner vapers. I consider them the first and simplist first step of juice delivery devices. Cartomizers and cartotanks would be the intermediate step, as they have a little more of a learning curve but resulting in better flavor/vapor production. And rebuildable tank/drip atomizers (RBA's) being the most advanced step.

Cartos and cartotanks are a great alternative which nowadays seem to be forgotten with the recent popularity of rebuildables. I used cartotanks for nearly two years prior to getting into rebuildables myself.

Alan.

I am sorry to break the bad news, but Vapestick (UK) is outdated, overpriced rubbish.

The 'original' cartomiser system was almost acceptable (although too expensive by miles) but the new stuff is just rip off tat you should be paying pennies for, not pounds.

Vapestick sell the most cynical product on the market, it is a non-refillable CE4 2.4ml clearomiser for £8.99 (?) and promising 600 puffs or something. They sell them in Tesco.

It's just a money-making scheme. Everything they sell is junk - plain and simple. I am not surprised at all that the clearomisers are worse than the cartomisers. The "Max" is a 36p piece of technology only really suitable for the bin. They ask for £4.99. I would need 100 of these a year, even if I could bear to vape on them, which would be a tough ask.

You know what to do. :) Good luck.

Thanks everyone for their comments. I've got 3 unused Vapestick clearomisers so I think I'll stick 'em on eBay. Will stick with the cartomisers for the time being. As for all the other stuff...hmmm...it's a bit confusing for a vaping newbie like me. There's a vape shop not far from me so I might pop in there some time & have a look at what they've got. Saw some lads recently smoking some huge custom made rig the other day, Gandalf himself couldn't have made that much smoke, quite impressive :)

It is a little confusing. Just remember this article, should you go shopping.

You can buy a cloud machine (battery and tank) for about £50 these days. In fact, there are some combinations so small (relatively), you'd barely believe they can out-do the old light sabers and massive atomizers.

Look up iStick 30w here
