Alright, it's been almost a year now since I quit smoking cigarettes and as thrilled I am about that feat, I want to take it even further by vaping zero. It would mean a lot to me knowing that I am no longer reliant on nicotine so my mind and body can finally be at ease. Only issue so far is that the juices I've tried (juices I usually vape just in 0mg instead) taste watered down and weird because there's no throat hit at zero nic. Is this one of those things where I just have to make an adjustment and it eventually starts tasting better or is this just how it is with no nic?

I know what you mean. That's what is stopping me from going any lower. I have wondered if that is why people are going for the super high wattages. To sort of replicate the loss of throat hit with extra heat. I noticed that most of the ultra high watters tend to vape very low nic.

I don't know that this is actually proven but my friends and I tend to believe that the nicotine is delivered more effectively at higher wattage so lowering nic would only make sense. In a way, your almost not even lowering your nic because the nic is being delivered at much higher rate especially if your drip @ sub ohms. If your 12mg on let's say a kayfun, dripping sub ohm 6mg will probably get the job done just as well for your nic craving. But the thing with zero nic is that there is no nic lol so going higher in watts really doesn't do anything.

I did it just to prove to myself that I could do it but TH wasn’t that important to me. Dropped 1mg at a time, easier when you DIY, giving myself about a week at a time at each level. Really wasn’t a happy camper at zero mg but didn’t realize it was the lack of nic until I started back at 3mg. I still use the no nic too. I’m glad I proved to myself that I could do it but not planning to again. I’ve seen suggestions for helping with TH while reducing nic but don’t remember them. Do think raising watts was one of them. Somebody will come up with them. Just don’t push yourself too quickly and you should do fine.

Mimicking throat hit at 0nic basically comes down to one of two things:
1. Higher wattage
2. Using an additive, i.e. ethyl alcohol, cinnamon/menthol, or even capsacin.

Some will say higher PG levels, but that does nothing at all for throat hit without nic.

Im down to 2 mg nic after 2 years. The key is to drop down slowly. I used to chase after the throat hit but the other day i tried some 12 mg and I wasn't able to do it! The throat hit was too much. I will prob stay at 2 mg cause I have no cravings and I prefer the taste with a little bit of nic in it.

Pretty much just the way it is. Nicotine is throat hit. You can kind of, but not really, fake it as one post above mentioned. Strong menthol works best for me, but I like menthol. Honestly, I couldn't do it with no nicotine. The throat hit is what makes a satisfying vape to me. Without it I find myself completely unsatisfied. I step down the strength when dripping, but that's just because I can get the same throat hit with less. Heck, I get more throat hit dripping 12mg than I get normally with 18mg in my tanks. I have to fight the urge, when going back to my Kayfun, to go to an even higher strength.

I'm ok with nicotine though, it keeps my ADD in check without having to take my prescription speed, and has positive long term mental benefits.

I was just thinking have you ever tried to use a little koolada with your juice? That just might be what you are looking for. Fair warning only use a little

Interesting you brought this up. I'm on 0-3mg, and I'm currently on vacation. I was worried my liquid was running low so I popped into the local drug store and picked up a bottle of VG, and vaped just that with a few drops of mint and later vanilla in my RDA.

Now it's not the same as say 6mg, but 95% non-nicotine VG at 1.5 ohms and 3.9 volts was really fine. It's going to take a bit of getting used to, but it's more than doable.

Using high VG with little or no flavor, minute nicotine levels is new for me, but it's enjoyable in different way. I can see myself using 0 nicotine within the next week or so.

Yes, it's not the same, there's no throat hit and it DOES take getting used to. But at the end of the day, vaping like this really is an easy way to kick the habit. Every step towards freedom, only needs a few days of getting used to a lighter vape.

Hope you do ok. Each lower level in nicotine is different, but not too different. Keep at it! I wish you well [emoji4]

What?? Capsaicin? I've never heard of that, and I'm a "spicy" fiend. I grow the superhot peppers - my ghost peppers are my pride and joy.
How would one go about this? Capsaicin is an oil after all, I thought it was not advisable to vape oils.

So sorry to go off topic...

See that's weird, I recently just switched to 0mg and I am overwhelmed by flavor! The flavor is so much better, I'm surprised how much I really tasted the nic when using it. I would say there's something weird with the juice your using if it tastes watered down. Like maybe they using flavoring in their nicotine and their mixes are different without nicotine. I don't know, but something isn't right. Definitely, there will be a lot less throat hit but just up the PG a bit.

I did the same thing. I have been using vodka to rinse out my syringes lately. I am thinking that such a tiny amount of alcohol is increasing my TH.
