Vaping and heart patients........Help with nic levels please!

I typically smoke 18 mg, and am so glad to be off the analogs! I am not yet 40 and have had 3 heart attacks though. I have noticed that my heart is acting wacky. Should I go to 12 mg? I have been off the analogs for about 2 weeks, so I don't think I will suffer by tapering down.

I realize no one is giving me medical advice. I am just wondering if someone with heart issues has noticed this and if lowering the nic level helped. I am NOT going to give up vaping.......especially since discovering butter rum

Thank you for taking the time to read this!!!!!!!

I would strongly recommend you talk to your doctor about this. Please.

This could be anything from nicotine withdrawal from too low a dose, nicotine overdose, or a real cardiac event. And no I'm not a doctor. So it might mean you are growing a chicken out of your left arm <nudge nudge, wink wink>.

Considering you have a serious heart condition, that is the only advice I could responsibly give.

Ive always wondered if vaping would be ok if you have a serious medical problem like heart or lungs or cancer ? Im not giving any medical advice but I always thought that nicotine sped up the heart rate before relaxing it so maybe you should be on a much lower dose but I would just do some research on nicotine or ask the doc . Hey good luck I hope your on your way to good health !

I am NOT A DOCTOR, nor do I have any medical training whatsoever. With that said...

I'm right along with everyone else here. I think it would be best if you talked to your doctor and let him/her know what's going on. I have heard of others getting a racing heart using e-cigs (usually generally attributed to the nicotine levels), but in your case, this isn't something to shrug off and just say "oh it happens to others too". You have a known heart condition and to me that means *anything* that makes your heart perform out-of-the-ordinary should be discussed with your doctor.

With all of *that* said.... congratulations on quitting smoking. Until you can get in to see your doctor, I would suggest cutting back to the lowest nicotine (or even zero nicotine, only using nic juices when you're craving) possible. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I do know nicotine causes arteries to constrict which can cause high blood pressure, etc. Better to be safe than sorry.

Something else as well. Please be *very* careful when handling your juices - in your case you may want to wear gloves. Nicotine can and WILL absorb into the skin very quickly. So even if you think you aren't vaping much nicotine, you may be getting more than you think through your skin (like when carts/cartos leak, or when refilling carts/cartos, etc).

Good point! Was wondering about that last night. You have to figure that is how the patch delivers nicotine.......

Since my whole thing is TH, I have been using a 36/24 mix, and have been trying to find a correlation between nic levels, number of drops and the nic delivered by analogs. I realize the answer cannot be exact as levels vary but a guideline would be cool.

I understand LR/HV combinations create more TH with less nic. I will have to try one and see. I have asked the veterans for suggestions and am waiting on an answer. The person who does this will be onto something (assuming it hasn't been done already). I would be very interested in such a project/venture.

I hate going to the doctor and don't even take my medicine usually. Horrible patient! With that being said, I will be going to the doctor this coming year, and switching to vg and seeing if that helps. Along with 12 then 6 mg nicotine.

Thanks guys for commenting! I was thinking I was crazy (or didn't want to believe it was my beloved PV). Since I have switched to flavors (thanks Gourmet Vapor) I have been hitting it nonstop!

Julie Anne,

I am a nurse/RN and have had heart attacks and a triple bypass. Seek medical attention NOW. Do not ask medical questions on a forum and DO NOT WAIT. Kudos to the Doc for his response. "Wacky" is not a good medical description of your symptom and if your MIs left you with an arrhythmia you could be heading to a place where there will be no butter rum. Please go to the ER NOW and get evaluated.

Making my appointment tomorrow. I am a horrible patient, but trying to get my health in line. I have drastically lowered my weight, exercise a lot, and eat very healthy food. I do NOT take my meds though. So, tomorrow I call for an appointment.

By "wacky" I mean my heart jumps all over the place. It goes out of rhythm for a bit then jumps back into place.

Thanks for all the concern! I will be letting him know the ingredients in my juices as well. If I have to go all vg or pg and zero nicotine, I will.

Julie Anne,
I am a doctor. What do you mean by "wacky"? You need to seek an urgent medical evaluation. For the love of God, you are only 40 and have had 3 MI's. Stop messing around, please, and seek attention soon.

You don't take your meds like you should and you say that your heart is acting "whacky" plus you've had 3 MI's! Don't wait to see this doctor sometime this year. GO ASAP! You can't afford to be messing around and trying to see if VG is going to make it better. Cappadoc is absolutely correct in his assessment and I concur. If you don't go see a doctor urgently you could be jeopardizing your life!

The doctor, the nurse and the paramedic have spoken!

Take your MEDICINE. If your not taking what was prescribed then whats the difference what you vape? I'm in the same boat. I take about 60$ a day worth of pills. I HATE them, they make me feel draggy but you know what I take them ANYWAY. Time to grow up and be responsible for your health and TAKE YOUR MEDICINE!!!
