So I was sitting at the Tequila Bar with friends at the United Center in Chicago explaining what e-cigs are (friends hubby is a cop & had never seen them)....

I demonstrated how they work and as I exhaled, security came up to me & very sternly said that smoking wasn't allowed. I very politely told him that I wasn't smoking & he said that he saw the smoke being exhaled..... He asked what it was & I explained that it was water vapor. After I said that, he looked incredibly confused  then apologized & went on his merry little way.

That's great! I'm afraid to try that in any New York venues. New Yorkers aren't quite that polite. I would definitely be explaining myself outside after getting dragged out.

I've played that scenario out in my head. "I don't care what that it is, put it out turn it off or whatever before we drag your ... outta here!" Security/Bouncers seem to think they are cops.

Haha, I've noticed that about some bouncer/security type people. Even if they aren't too sure, they will generally be like "Uh, ok." then walk away looking really confused. Happened to me at a bar last night. I explained what it was and that the other bar staff was aware of it and alright with it and he just said "Uh, ok", shrugged, then walked away with a confused look on his face.

I guess it depends on where you are from and what type of security people you are dealing with, but I think that most of them are just going to look like you hit them upside the head and walk away after you explain it.

I vaped in BC Place (Vancouver, BC) while at the Lions game. No one even noticed, tho i shirted my vapor lol.

Yeah, I don't really like this whole "Hiding" it thing that a lot of people have doing on. If I am trying to be more discreet, I will blow my vapor towards the ground instead of in the air, but I haven't ever blown it into my shirt or tried to hide it. Trying to hide it would make me feel like I am doing something wrong, which I am not. This is perfectly legal everywhere but if the owner of the establishment doesn't want me to do it, I won't.
