I just vaped in several restaraunts in West Virginia last week, no issues. Granted, I was in a booth and blew my vapor to the side and downward but no one looked at me or said anything even though I was 'visible'. I acted like it was no big deal (cause really, it wasn't and isn't). Most of the time by the time anyone takes a second glance the vapor has dissipated already. If I see someone looking peculiar, I deliberately lay my pv down on the table or drop it in my pocket because that pretty much shows right there it isn't anything 'lit'.

Us West Virginia's are a most accomodating, understanding and well informed group of people. That's one of the many reasons why it says "Almost Heaven" when you enter the state.:2cool::thumb:

vape your mods. I use box mods, if anyone looks at me funny I make sure they can see the flashing LED, and I will set it in plain view on the table. Never had any more than a couple funny looks. I even request the non-smoking sections of local establishments (we can still smoke in public in Missouri), and no one has ever given me any trouble. A lot of patrons will ask about it, and it is really amazing how many already know what it is.

I'm sure glad I live in a state where people are not so narrow-minded.

If there's no one near me I will, but if there's a table of people next to me I hold off. To me, and I'm not casting any judgment, I feel it's equivalent of lighting a fragrant candle and I wouldn't want the scent from my PV (as pleasant as it is) wafting into someone else's personal space while they're trying to enjoy a meal. At a bar? Different story. Other than being considerate to people immediately adjacent to me, I vape all over the ^#&!#*$% place!

They see me vaping, they starin',
rollin' their eyes, thinkin' I must be smelly and dirty

I dunno, felt like a little freestyle..

I've vaped my Monkeyboxx in EVERY resturant I've visited without exception. I don't try to hide it, I pull out the boxx and vape away. Everytime I've been asked "what is that" and I've been happy to explain and demonstrate. The normal response is "I need to get one of those". Sometimes I get looks from other customers but they are more curious looks than "how dare he" looks.

No, it's really not about show. If we act and look like smokers, we will be treated like smokers. If we don't look like smokers, it's generally not a problem. It is my custom to ask before vaping in a restaurant. So far, I've never been turned down. That's in Hickory, Charlotte, and Atlanta.

However, a week or so ago I was in a restaurant and I asked, the waitress went and got the manager. It turns out he had one of those cheapie m401 knock offs that have been going around. He told me that there had been a problem with a guy with a cigarette looking kit vaping at the bar because everyone thought he was smoking but, I could use my box mod as long as no one complained. That's exactly what I did and no one cared.

Those of you that think people using a mod in public are creating a spectacle, I'm here to tell you that you cause a bigger stir with your 808s.

The rest of the story is that he got a lot of info from me and gave me his email so I could send him more. When I left he packed me a free desert with my leftovers. :) I sent him a bunch of info including a link to this site. The next day he rode his motorcycle to madvapes which is about 80 miles from here and got a roughstack and a bunch of other stuff. :)

Micky Rat.
Been vaping in public for year with 808's and 510's and no issues.....None! (restaurants/stores/malls/everywhere but church(out respect))
So I don't get your point.

When was the one time that restaurant manager had a problem with someone vaping? It was when they looked like they were smoking. You'll cause less problems, if you avoid that situation. You're not being courteous mimicking a behavior that most people around you abhor. You're being selfish and making yourself comfortable at their expense. They don't want to be around someone smoking. The less you look like you are, the more comfortable they will be.

I don't think so. Just because no one confronted you, doesn't mean they didn't resent what you were doing. If looking like you're smoking makes anyone but, you comfortable then why did I have no trouble vaping a box mod in that restaurant, while the person mimicking smoking caused a problem? I'm willing to bet you can't think of an instance where the opposite occurred.

The anti-smoking zealots are what got us tossed out in the past and taxed to death. They won't get satisfaction out of me.
I hardly care what they think, and in fact I'm out to stand up to them. Let em stare me down.

The others will recognize these cig sized units are (a) not the same color as a cig, and (b) not smelling like smoke. In fact very little if any smell will ever reach them.
I'm totally open to explain what I'm using. I don't ask waiters/waitresses for their permission. They will have to bring it up to me. I also won't go back to their establishment if refused...I pay very good money to eat where I eat, and if they want a decent tip and my business...well...They'll back off. If not....SEE YA!
Finally, I've never had to exercise any confrontation. No one (except one place where I asked first (a mistake)) has EVER refused to let me vape. No one has EVER complained, but I have had some friendly questions.
I vape everywhere. Even in book and clothing stores.

SO I'M PROACTIVE BUT NEVER OFFENSIVE.
