Yesterday evening I went to my local poker club, joined a Texas Hold'em ring and lost quite pathetically hand after hand. Finally I called it quits because this was going nowhere, and I stepped out to watch the action. A friend of mine then told me "your problem is that thing you suck on all the time: when you have something, you pull on it like crazy. And when you don't have anything, it even starts blinking like a Christmas tree." I realized he was talking about the 10 second protection: when I'm full of it and I raise, I forget to stop puffing! I didn't even realize. And just to think I trained myself to not touch my card guard to avoid giving clues... instead I replace it with a friggin semaphore that the whole table can't possibly ignore even if they wanted to :(

So if you play poker, leave your vaping gear at home is my advice.

Easy. Now that you know it's a "tell" for you, use it to your advantage and bluff like a crazy person...lol

Yeah, I thought about exploiting it. But I don't trust myself with body language. I'm good at staying stone-faced and not moving more than I need to, but I suck at pretending. Must be my honest nature :)
Honest people don't play poker very well. Just sayin'...lol

Yeah but I'm really good I'm calculating my outs, which usually more than makes out for my unconvincing poker faces. Most poker players rely on conning and luck. But the truth is, math really goss a long way in the long run. Unfortunately, the tells from my vaping completely destroyed any advantage I might have had at the river, as my buddy told me other players could read me like an open book.

Once you're aware of your tells you can adjust to compensate. That's a huge advantage.
