This has been a delightful experience and I haven't smoked an analog since yesterday at 3:30! Not only that, I don't want one! I could never say that in past attempts to quit! I do have a question.....After reading tons of information and overloading my hard drive (brain) it seems I remember people talking about how you can overheat an atty. Just how hot can it get before it blows? I only have two at the moment, the one I'm using and a backup. I find myself wanting to vape more than I'm doing but I'm a little afraid to take my puffs very close together. Advise needed please.

Hi Lyndagayle,

Very happy to hear you are enjoying an easy transition!!!! Don't be too worried about heat as long as you don't run your atty dry. There is a balance between too dry and flooded but if you are going to make mistakes early on make them on the side of caution and keep your atty moist.. Once you get the feel of the right time to top up you can chain vape until its very VERY hot. But I do remember when I ordered my first 510 and only had 2 attys how paranoid I was!!! It drove me nuts!! I use cartos now so don't have to worry about Atty failure and I have to admit that was one of the big deciders for me to make the switch!! I would be carrying a spare everything with me everywhere just in case!!!

Thanks for the advice but tell me please, what is a carto?

Also glad to hear how well you are doing. I'm not sure which model you have, but a 3-piece unit like the 510 will have a batt, an atty and a cart. A 2-piece model like the KR808D-1 will have a batt and a carto which is short for cartomizer which contains both an cartridge and atomizer in one piece.

There can be a fine balance between too wet an atty and too dry. No matter which model you do use it is best to normally wait a bit between vapes. For example, with my 510 I would take a vape or two then wait at least a minute or so before taking another one. There are two good reasons for this; one is to give your atty a little time to cool off a bit between vapes and the other is to give the e-juice time to re-saturate the atty for good flavor with your very next vape.

There are many little things that you will learn over time but a nice long, light vape works better than a strong one (for example). Everyone learns what works best for them, for the particular model they use and the e-juice as well.

Congrats and welcome!!! I'm new to this as well but learning fast as I'm sure you will too. It's been 3 weeks since I picked up a cigarette and I haven't felt this good in....18 years. Best advice I have is to "listen" to your 510.

Gurgling sound means you flooded the atomizer. A few blows into the battery end of the atomizer with the cart taken off usually does the trick.

Loss in taste or vapor. You're low on juice and need to refill your cart.

Like I said I've been at it for 3 weeks now and was just as worried as you are that I was going to screw something up that would drive me back to smoking. Just be patient and ALWAYS check back here with any questions you have. Everyone on this forum has at one point been in your shoes/heels and is more than willing to help you out. Best of luck!!!

Welcome and also a noobie,,,only two months analog free....Have read many things on this site including how hot the attys get when vaping a lot....As far as the experts on this site stated....At the beginning, no one cared how hot the atty became...Better vapor and quality when hot...For some reason, the topic came up and now everyone is worried about a hot atty...For me, using a Ego, the hotter the atty the better....and I don't burn them out, unless it is dry,,,and that is my fault....Just remember to do regular maintenance on your attys and you will be fine...Again, welcome, this forum, literally sae my life....PaulCincy..

Hi & welcome to the forum! You definitely came to the right place for advise, there are so many helpful people on here. I'm fairly new too, and within my 1st month all 3 of my atty's weren't working. So I know where your coming from with worrying! There is a learning curve, I still have a lot to learn myself. Now I make sure to have some extra atty's put aside "just in case", that way I never have to go thru that again! Good Luck!

I started this thread for someone who asked the same question...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...nk-you-shouldnt-let-atomizer-get-too-hot.html

Thank you! That thread was very helpful. I'm finding with each day that I get a little less paranoid about this whole thing. Now I'm going to really enjoy my vaping sessions and stop waiting for my atty to cool down between puffs. BTW----I'm up on 96 hours analog free!!! The cool part is, I have NOT wanted one!!! I'm so thankful to have found a cure and a wonderful place such as this for backup support. Thanks to everyone here, even if you haven't answered a direct question, I'm sure you've posted helpful hints elsewhere that I have read or will read. You guys rock!

Welcome, and yes, DC2 as far as I can tell is completely correct....
I guess the direct answer from what I read these past months is as long as your atty isn't dry,,,and of course you don't stack batteries,,,,the atty will in a normal PV will never get hot enough to burn up....There just isn't enough power in the battery to do that....My attys get real real hot, but I make sure my carts have juice in them,,,so for me it doesn't matter...Plus I have an Ego, with a cone over the atty,,,,so I don't even feel how hot an atty is like people who use say a 510....Another reason I bought an Ego...But, again,,,,that is me.....Enjoy and Good Luck...
