vaping failure weekend. :(

I have no clue what I am doing wrong here!

I have used the Reo mini for almost a year. Never had any troubles before. This past week though has been a vaping nightmare for me. I am just not getting a strong hit off my cartos. The draw is semi stiff and rather weak. I use Boge LR, and I know there have been some issues with them, but I have tried 3 different boxes from 3 different vendors. Vapor production is hit and miss. Flavor is hit and miss.

I noaloxed the firing pin, ran vodka through the tubing, changed batteries, tried 5 different cartos. I just do not know what else to do! Anyone have any suggestions?

Did ya check the spring and the lil screw on the bottom to make sure that's tight as well ? Like Rhaps Fire said a good hot water bath could be just what the lil mini is in need of Check spring and bath, bet ya she kicks like new again.

Bath entire unit in Hot water, not just flush !

I am guessing this is a carto issue......but finding it odd that 5 separate cartos from 3 different vendors purchased over different spans of time are doing this. I seriously just want a good hit from a good carto!!!

Ok!! Hugest of favors....could someone tell me exactly how to hot water bath my mini? I have never done it....and certainly do not wanna screw something up. Dunk the whole unit in hot water? Trying the spring thing right now.

Remove the battery, juice bottle, and atty. Then either boil some hot water in a kettle and pour it over the mod in the sink, paying close attention to the positive battery contact, button, and atty connector....or pour that water into a bowl of some kind and just drop your mod in there and let it set in the water for about 15 mintues. When you remove it, use tongs or something, because it will still be hot to the touch. I would run some hot tap water and give it a second flushing before laying it down to dry. Compressed air works well to help dry it out in a hurry.

Thank you so much Rhapsodies Fire! You rock! Tightened up the spring screw, gonna go ahead and give her a little bath. Hoping this fixes it all! I know the mod is working fine...just needs a little oil change and tire rotation I think.

She's a soaking away right now. Got about 8 minutes left in the bath water. I am gonna run tap water through it then, and got the hubs firing up the air compressor to blow air through it. Will definitely keep you posted. I will check back in the next hour and let you know where things stand.

I was having a similar issue just this past weekend. I have not even had my reo grand that long. I decided to give it another hot water bath. I usually do this once a week. Flushed it for about 30sec under some hot water. Works like a charm again. I use a lot of VG so there might have been some clogging in the part that the tube connects to. Vodka is good to clean the unit but in order to get rid of build-up, you need to give it a nice hot bath. [=

Have you checked to make sure the tube isn't touching the bottom of the bottle? And checked for kinks in the tubing? Running some vodka through the carto/atty connector will clean out any gunk after you blow it out. Just some thoughts. I'm sure the bath will take care of the problem.

I think the bath did it good! Soaked her good, shot compressed air through it for about 10 minutes, unscrewed the top portion to blow out the area around the firing pin really good. She was totally dry.

Put the carto back on with the same battery and there was improvement, but still not totally back to normal. So, tried yet another battery and now she works great!!!!

How long do most of you get an AW IMR battery to last before it needs to be tossed and totally replaced? I have had these for about 4-5 months, rotate through 5 of them, so none of them get heavy daily use. Is it possible that 2 of the 5 batteries are shooting craps on me already?

I'm not sure about the battery life. I have about 8 of them in rotation that I bought about 8 months ago I think and they are still going strong. I suppose its possible if you ended up rotating the same 2 or 3 more than the others. You may want to keep any eye on them using your multimeter...noting where they're at coming off the charger and where they're at when you change them and how much juice you have gone through to give you an idea if some are performing worse than others.

Will definitely multimeter them fresh off the charger. Have the 2 "suspect" batts on the charger right now. I marked them with tape so I can keep an eye on them.

Ahhhh vaping normally now. So thankful for all the help. At least now we are whittled down to either a batt or remote chance of a charger issue. Nothing a multimeter and my spare charger/stash of batts cannot fix. the bath did the mini wonders! Gonna start doing that every so often to keep her at optimal performance!

Can I ask a reo newbie question? When you take the bottle off to give the reo a bath do you also take off the tubing and cap? Or just the bottle?

Nope...just the bottle. You "can" take the cap & tube off if you want, but it can be a bit of a chore to get them back on. Those are easily cleaned on the mod as they are.
