vaping for about a month now and loving it. I have the MVP 2.0, and the aspire nautilus.

Why is it for the first few days this tank vaped like a dream, and then slowly begins to lose its luster?

For example the Nautilis. First 3 days I was amazed. Amazing taste, tonnes of vapour production. About on the fourth day Im noticing I have to try harder to get the same amount of vape, as well as noticing a slight chemical after taste?

I don't think the coil needs to be replaced after just 4 days?

Any tips?

Actually, it could need to be replaced. Different juices will gunk up your coils at different rates, some in as little as a day while with others you might get a full week out of 'em before performance drops off

This makes me sad to hear, and even though I occasionally use my Nautilus to great success, I too have had problems. Some streaks last several days and some may only last three or four days. I do believe it depends upon the quality of the particular coil installed at the time, and the type of juice. When it works, it works really well. But when it craps out...sigh.

Please don't give up on it. I find occasional deals on coils online for $9.99/5-pack. Also sometimes just the act of cleaning out the entire tank and parts, rinsing the coil and reassembling has helped the quality of the vape.

I was at a B&M not too long ago as a customer, and another customer had the same setup as you do (and I have had that setup for a long time too) and he was telling the clerk the same thing you wrote here. The other customer was about ready to quit Vaping because of it. Really, I think, he got a bad batch of coils. It's really sad that quality control can make or break an otherwise awesome tank like the Nautilus.

Good luck and I hope it works out.

Coils for 5mL PBC Tanks, which are Smok Tech Replacement Bottom Coils work very well for me. When I get a burned taste I just put boiling water in a coffee cup and drop the bottom coil in it for about 15 min. Then burn it dry. I usually vape 5-7 ml a day and I have gotten 3-4 weeks off 1 coil doing this. I use this on a Silver Bullet. $1.79 per 3-4 weeks is not too bad.

You can clean and re-use the coils for the nautilus. All you need to do is remove them from the base and rinse under hot running water. Then shake it dry and screw it back into the base (don't put it back into the glass section though)

Then put it on your battery and pulse it for a few seconds at a time. You'll notice that the coil will not glow for a while and you should get some white smoke come off it. Keep going, pulsing and blowing gently on the wicks.

Eventually you should see the coils glowing red. At this point, let it cool, then run it one more time under hot running water. Shake it off (let it dry for a few hours if you like) and your coil will be almost as good as new.

You should be able to get a good month or even longer if you do this every week or so. The only time you really need to replace a coil is if the silica starts to degrade and fray, the coil itself becomes unstable or any of the grommets or o rings become scorched.

Another thing you could try is a soak for a few hours in a grain alcohol like vodka or everclear. Rinse it off and vape.

I second the Kayfun with a passion!! I didn't mention that above because I wasn't sure you are in the market for a rebuildable yet.

You can build a coil that will work fine (ohms) with an MVP and then enjoy the flavor of a dripper with the convenience of a regular tank. The Kayfun Lite made by EHPro is the tank I use every day now, and the Nautilus is my backup until I buy a second Kayfun :)

I also use the ehpro kayfun lite + on my MVP all the time. It works fantastically. I'm not sure what you mean by maintenance exactly. I usually rewick about every two or three days (takes about 5 mins), and recoil about once a week (15 min). I can clean and dry it in about 5 minutes.

Highly recommended!

Yes I do :) There are different answers to how low an ohm MVP will fire, but FOR ME, I wouldn't build a coil lower than 1.8 ohms for the MVP. That is just MY conclusion and there may be others with more knowledge who will offer greater advice.

You will need Kanthal wire. I use 28 gauge wire because it is what spans the greatest range for the coils I use on all my tanks (including drippers, which is NOT what a Kayfun is).

You will need something to wrap the Kanthal wire around. I use a 5/64 drill bit.

Personally I prefer to heat my coils and squeeze them together in order to have the coil heat uniformly from the inside of the coil to the outside of the coil.

You will need a small Phillips head screwdriver.

Your MVP is also an ohm meter. If you build with the Kayfun build deck screwed on your MVP, pushing down the P and U buttons at the same time will read your ohms.

You will need some organic cotton balls to wick, or some silica. I don't use silica so I can't help you there :(

You will need nail clippers to clip the excess Kanthal wire away once you've tightened down your coil on your Kayfun build deck.

My Kayfun clone (made by EHPro) came with a screwdriver and some extra o-rings.

I'm no expert and I pray I am not sounding like a buffoon to the more experienced members here. But since you addressed your question to me, I want to help in any way I can!

Good luck -- find a good, reliable vendor online and don't pay B&M prices for a Kayfun if you can help it. ;) I'd say about ~$35 on eBay sounds about right.

I always end up with burnt coils after trying this. What's the trick?
