Got my first mechanical mod + rda ... What a huge improvement!! ... here's why...

vape history lesson:

This is just my experience... and don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed vaping since the very beginning.... so here it is:

I've been vaping since the short 510s were the best stuff available (2009)... we used to put pyramid tea bags in the cartridge instead of polyfill to get a little bit more consistency and hold more juice... they would leak all over you... usually at the worst possible time.

Next was dripping in 510 atomizers. They flooded all the time. Remove the bridge and it vapes a little bit better... remove the wick and it's a juice cup that shoots burning liquid through your drip tip. ego batteries came out... the ego cone pretty much solved the leaky 510 thing but still 510/ego atomizers ended up burnt or clogged pretty fast no matter what you did... oh yeah and blowing out the atomizer... blow in the battery end and let it sit upside down overnight hahaha burn, flood, blow, burn, flood, blow

Then came the 5v mods which really were a big improvement in vapor production if you could find an atomizer that could handle the volts... here's a tip... if you really mistreat an oldschool 510 atomizer on 3.7v sometimes it will gain enough resistance to really rock on pure 5v.

Next we had cartomizers (aka gunkomizers).. then dual coil cartos (better)... this phase of vaping was actually pretty good if you threw out your carto every few days but no one did... so we vaped that "bottom of the carto" crap all the time lol.

Variable voltage came out and things were better... more and more manufacturers offered low and high resistance cartos which was also even better.

Tanks hit the scene and really improved everything but the carto tanks always wanted to leak and the cartomizers still gunked pretty fast. The vivi nova wasn't bad if you only want to vape the top 1ml of liquid... after that you're left twisting and twirling it in hopes that it will wick the juice... also they would end up burnt tasting pretty fast because of the coil legs touching the rubber. The bottom coil protank/evod style tanks were a nice improvement over the clearo/vivi style tanks --- unless ---- you like vg and you didn't want dry hits.

I actually went back to cartos after trying to work boba's bounty in a protank for a while lol

Anyway fast forward to modern times... with a little bit of safety research and and a couple of hours on youtube learning to make the coils you enter a whole new dimension. You can wrap a coil in just a few minutes, screw it down to your rebuildable, throw in some cotton, stick it on a metal tube with a good battery and BAM you have the most consistent vapor that has ever been available! I guess the future is now.

No real reason for this post... just enjoying my new gear :p

anyone else remember the 'ptb mod' lol

I thought bottom feeders fell into the rebuildable catagory.

No, not exclusively. They started out being used with unsealed 510 atties & cartos. It's been fairly recently that the Reomizer came out & many Reo users now are using that or some other bf rda on their Reos. There are still many who use regular atties &/or cartos.

I do remember going to the pet store to get fluvial foam for my carts on the old Blu to try and get them to work well enough! I tried the tea bag and kept getting a mouth full of hot juice, lol. Did the cartomizers, dual coil cartomizers and carto tanks just prior to going back to analogs. Coming back, I'm loving the IClear 30s tanks now and just got a mechanical mod and rba in the mail to try out. I'm off Monday, so that's when I'm trying my first atty build. Wish me luck! If all goes well, I will pick up a Kfun next to give a rebuildable tank a try. I've heard that if treated right they don't leak, which is a plus as I ride a motorcycle everywhere and keep my devices in my pocket.

You can put a rebuildable atomizer on any device you want to. Doesn't mean you have to. A 1.5 ohm atomizer on a 3.7 volt battery is right around 9 watts and that's where I'm comfortable at. I just buy the pre-made atomizers.

lol I forgot about the blue foam... I remember thinking that it had a weird flavor. Also there was one where you would use the a piece of silicon with a little X cut in it... the atty bridge would stick through the x a tiny bit and wick the liquid... this one flooded a lot.
