Vaping in a COURT ROOM!!!

LOL, not "good job" asking the judge to "state the law." If you had left off that part of your speech to the judge I'd say good job. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying what you said and even stating that vaping is illegal is incorrect, but (like others have said) you're lucky the judge didn't chew you out for telling him/her what to do in his/her courtroom. Courts are backed up and judges are busy enough without putting up with little speeches from people in the courtroom. I sound way too negative, I did really enjoy the story. Esp. getting people to come up and question you about it. Educating the people is what it's all about!

And he could have found the entire courtroom to be in contempt and jailed them all just for the fun of it. If he was a nut.

He could have "nailed" him, or held him in contempt only in the sense that he could have held him in contempt because he didn't like the color of his hair.

Some of you people seem to be confused as to the country you live in. Contempt has a meaning. "Contempt of court" has a legal definition. Talking to a judge is not being contemptuous. Asking a question is not being contemptuous.

There was absolutely no grounds whatsoever for a contempt charge. NONE, NADA, ZIP. The bottom line is that a judge is free to abuse his power any time he wants. If the judge was abusive, he could have held him in contempt, but if you're going to assume that all judges are that abusive, then we have a very serious problem.

He complied. He asked for a clarification. There's no way that any sane person can construe that as being contemptuous of the court.

the sliver bullet wont get though the metal detectors next time .....
.and good for you
dont you mess with us vapors and stand up for whats right

That's why they have those little plastic baskets. I've vaped in the hall/lobby outside a courtroom w/no problem. I wouldn't vape inside a courtroom mostly just because some stressed out anti would probably make a big fuss and cause a disruption.
