Just going over my 1 week mark of vaping and having missed the winter I was just wondering how it's affected by different weather conditions. Anyone have a pv quit on them from being drenched in a downpour? If it gets below zero outside, will your pv work as well? If you have been outside in the sub zero weather working with your pv in your pocket (so it's near the same temp) and try to take a hit, will the sudden heat pop your atomizer and ruin it?

I work outdoors at a marine park on the west coast in Canada lol. Pretty much the wettest climate you can imagine, it's some kind of rain forest. Been vapin for 6 months and no issues with water only because I keep my eGo attached to a lanyard that stays under my jacket. It's also close to my chest so it stays warm. It's never fallen into a puddle or toilet either.

At or below the freezing mark the juice becomes thick. I use 50-50 VG-PG and the dripping method. The juice takes longer to reach the coil especially when the whole unit is exposed to freezing temperatures. The juice also gets stuck in the drip tip and it takes a little fooling around to make it go down.

I only drip so it would be interesting to see how cart or tank users fair below freezing. Might try strait PG with PGA in extreme cold. Hopefully this cold weather is gone for good but who knows.

I gotta have my PV strapped around my neck. I even ordered my GLV SM with lanyard, should be here soon!!!!

No issues with a cold atty failing but this could happen if the juice failed to reach the coil and you dry burned the thing for 30 secconds. I use LR atty's in the cold and I can tell right away if it's dry by taste and as soon as the the juice gets down there im fine for 10 drags even if I let it cool between pulls.

Congrats on your 1 week!

Post....... more.......... please.

Here the winters the winters can get below -40 celsius (-40F). Most alkaline batteries and lithium ion (my cell phone freezes in my pocket all the time) don't work worth a ..... when directly exposed to -20 C (-4 F) for any length of time, maybe 5 to 10 min. If you kept your PV warm in in inside jacket pocket, you should still be able to get a couple a hoots before you had to warm it again and I'd avoid steel tips LOL. I don't think you can do much about the cold affecting the batteries but PG and VG are a food grade antifreeze and should not freeze easily. I have no idea how the atomizer would react, as they heat up very quickly. I'm honestly interested to find out how they hold up to the weather myself as I'm sure I need a waterproof PV!

If my PV's show up before summer, I'll be able to tell you how it they handle the weather. Hopefully will be done with the worst of the cold but I'm sure I have a few nights ahead of me that will be below -10 c (14 F).

So I had the pleasure of having my ego (with 1300 mAh bat with a smart cart) out in the cold for a couple of nights. The battery seemed to be ok, the atty worked fine, but even with straight PG it doesn't wick worth merde. I could see wicking/dripping issues with the a tank style pv, but cartomizers might work better in the cold.

One of the big difference for me is vaping in the wind (or on the tractor) - since 1/2 of the 'habit' is the visual on the smoke/vapor - smoke is more visible in the wind than vapor - so it's a bit of a disappointment. Having a Variable volt that you can crank up helps. And of course you're still getting that other half - the nicotine :)
