Howdy,
First of all, welcome to the ECF.
As for vaping in public that tends to be a topic of heated discussion, some are all out and some aren't. I've had the pleasure to get feedback from two people that do not vape. The usual comment is " It doesn’t smell as bad as a cig but still has a smell", one person does not like it at all.
The idea is not to tick anyone off, typically anyone vaping should follow a few basic rules.

If your asked to move because of the smell ,vape or whatever, then I'd gracefully do so.
If smoking isn't allowed, ask first if you can, if told no then follow the same rules as analog smokers.
Don't assume anyone is ok with it, most aren't and those that don't know may just be turned against it without explanations first.
Try not to sneak a "Stealth Vape" in places you shouldn't....It leaves an odor and may just tick people off ( worse case is vapor is mis-construed as smoke and someone calls the Fire Department, been there seen that).

The idea is to be a good role model for this, already on the verge of being banned we need to leave people with a good image of vapors everywhere. I'd rather not have to vape in the cold/rain/snow...ect because its been pushed to outside only.

Enjoy your stay here though, lots of rock on people always willing to help.

Lots of great answers. It is legal to vape anywhere in Canada, so far, however I agree with not wanting to rock the boat too much.

My daughter vapes at her work desk cause she tries to avoid snacking; an easy thing to do when under pressure and sitting at a desk. The fellows don't like it and want her outside in the -30 with them where they smoke (and she was just vaping straight flavoured VG)

Then, another smoker switched to vaping, but he got the ego, and all the fellows are, like, "thumbs up and good on you dude". I think cause my daughter uses the look-a-like ecigs it seems more like smoking...the more advanced versions of ecigs bear little resemblance to a cigarette.

I know all you ex smokers will think this is nuts, but I hate making smokers envious. I avoid vaping in front of my room mate cause he is trying hard to quit and I don't wanna trigger his need for a cigarette. I have a lot of compassion for how hard it is to quit (and I have never been a smoker, as I have stated too many times)...my room mate has cut down incredibly and I laud him for that...well, he has to cause I'm allergic to something in cigarettes and couldn't live with him otherwise...he has a long walk to get to the front door lol...

btw...nicotine is not addictive....I forget the ecig at home while at work and never miss it.

I have a hand/mouth fixation with food :)

If I am in a tense or boring situation I will snack...also, if my estrogen levels drop, as in, when I forget to use my cream..then major depression/sadness/searching for comfort foods.

I have a roomy/partner who smokes a lot and I am allergic so I bought him the ego ce4 and he thinks it's dorky and won't use it. While I was purchasing his I bought myself a wee mini 808...I had read up about the effects of nicotine; how it decreases appetite and increases metabolism. I have 20 pounds to lose; 20 menopausal pounds. It is really hard!

I was amazed after my first vape on the ce4 how my lungs and sinuses cleared. I have bad sinuses: always backed up. I have general inflammation of the body due to Hashimotos...I have been searching for a good anti-inflammatory with few side affects and I stumbled into nicotine. My ankles are not swollen anymore.

So, the increase in heart rate (also have low blood pressure) and adrenaline have helped me perform a very physically demanding job...lost 9 pounds already and put on major muscle...plus my heart is in better shape, not directly from, but rather indirectly from using nicotine. The nicotine pushes the heart to work faster and then I can walk, dig, axe etc...which makes my heart stronger.

I found a scholarly article stating that nicotine helps convert T4 to T3 in the brain where it is needed. People with Hashimoto's have limited ability to do this which really screws with energy levels, and mental alertness. (T4 and T3 are hormones produced by the thyroid...my thyroid doesn't work much anymore so I take pills)

.....and then! There is the fact that when I was young I had the occasional cigarette when drinking with friends and love to blow smoke rings...I am happy I can do that and not have to spit every few minutes...(gawd cigs are disgusting!)

My ex smoked on/off and his mom, as well, and my kids were picking up the habit. I just purchased the ego ce4 for my son; my daughter has been filling her bedroom with every different kind of ecig you can imagine, and all the flavours...I would rather they do this than smoke.
