Good luck with your challenge and hope you enjoy Thailand. Would love to visit the country, I find the culture fascinating…..ping pong balls and all! Should the opportunity knock, think I would try to go vape free and evaluate my options should I could not cope.

Edit: Just to clarify – the ping pong ball statement was in jest. I’ve seen Winona Ryder perform the ping pong ball stunt on South Park….it was not all that impressing.

You can always bring along some nic gum and patches. Certainly not great but may be enough to take the edge off. Snus are supposed to work well too, I believe Anna has experience with them and how to get them if you're in the US (pretty sure you have to order them in, but Anna would know that too).

Well we're back to going to Thailand. We've done a hell of a lot of thinking, searching the internet and speaking to people seeking suggestions for alternative places.
We want a place where we get bang for the hard earned buck, good food, interesting people and culture. Somewhere where we can have a holiday where we can set our own pace and take in some of nature's beauty. Problem is all the countries that fits that criteria, has a problem with vaping. Needless to say the wife is getting a bit frustrated and I can't blame her (she does not vape).
So far certain places in Thailand is perfect.
We visited Vietnam 2 years ago and had a blast with the locals, their culture/food and traditions.
So here's the plan...
I've decided to test myself some. We take weekends off as regular we can and go blow some steam by lying low somewhere. I'll just leave my vaping stuff at home and see how I go...see how easy or not, I get "non vape fit"
May I suggest nicotine pouches for intense nic cravings. Very easy to use discreetly and readily available at most gas stations. I use a brand called Zyn :2c:

Snus has worked really well for me. You can buy it right here in the US under the name "American General snus." A lot of gas stations sell it, you don't have to order it from Sweden.

Here is a US snus locator: Snus Finder | Find snus in stores near you I would really suggest trying some. My biggest issue at the start was, it didn't taste so great. As my brain got used to the "reward," I no longer minded the taste.

I have gone about 15 hours straight (during a particularly long day) without vaping once. I think it's better (and probably cheaper) than nicotine pouches. It provides more alkaloids than vaping alone, and this also helps.

Definitely, try both before your trip and see what works. I am someone who thought I would "never" use snus, and I do, 5 days a week. It's immensely helpful and I vastly prefer it to nicotine pouches, but you should try both.

Is snuff the same thing as the pouches? I love the pouches for rainy days at work!

I brought snus, then quickly ditched it. No offense. :D

@Fredman1 As far as bang for the buck, most hotels are $50 a night average, and come with breakfast. Street food and 7-11s are ubiquitous. Really, you can get some fantastic food in their stores. Happening once a month in Chaing Mai is a street festival with delicious cheap food. You'll find elephant encounters, white water rafting, hikes, all sorts of cool outdoor stuff to do there. Be sure to check out the islands to the south. Round trip air to both destinations is around $100 and you can book when you get there. Have you looked at the TripAdvisor Thailand forums? Of course with forums, YMMV.

Yeah that's what we're looking at. Base ourselves at Krabi and roam from there. We like to do our own thing and not be to touristy. Find a good driver and use him when needed. Rest of the time we make our own way. Worked wonderful in Vietnam. We spent a few days with locals to see how they live...and eat....mostly EAT. :D
I even went fishing with some war veterans at a local lake. That was pure fun.

    No. Snus is entirely different.

People love it, tolerate it or hate it. I kind of tolerate it but it does the trick. better than nic pouches (for me) although some of the REAL Swedish stuff tastes pretty good.

Nic pouches taste better probably but no minor alkaloids. If you don't need/want them, nic pouches are probably just fine.

    Will certainly do ;)
I'm thinking of sneaking in my little Orion without the wife knowing it...figure I can take a lot of toilet brakes...maybe even fake a upset stomach  Lots of those around there.
Then again I don't like the thought of making newspaper headlines back home if I get caught

have a picture of your passport info page and visa on your phone. (another possible 1,000 dollar shakedown) smoke cigs for your time there. it won't kill you. other than that, you can get drunk, act a fool, do pretty much what ever you want, and nobody will bother you. you can possibly find some cheap knock off gear and juice at the night markets if you're hanging. vaping in your room is not a problem. i have been going there for many years, and have been vaping there for 7 or 8 years. the krabi area is beautiful by the way.

Nah everything concerning Thailand has ground to a halt now. Haven't made any reservations yet. The wife is in limbo. First things first.....i need to decide whether i can/want to go without vaping for two weeks. I know i can, but what i dont know is what (if any) effect it might have on me....maybe nothing..maybe ill fall down in a foam fit because of nicotine detoxing..maybe some grumpiness...hell, i might even be more love-able than i am now....who knows. :p
Yeah we've been to quite a few places and Thailand was always on the bucket list.
Either way its a Bummer :-x
To be honest Fred the only thing that would worry me is bringing my vape stuff through immigration/customs but as for vaping just do it where you can't get caught ie...in your hotel room etc., etc. :)

I didn't take my vape with me when I went away for a weekend last month and was a grumpy sod the whole time!

We went to India for our honeymoon a few years back and I was clean for the first week, started smoking again for weeks 2and 3 then straight back to vaping when home. It wasn't due to it being banned in India (though I think it is), it was just one less thing to pack and I wanted to see if I could do it.

It didn't put me on a slippery slope back to rolling ciggies every half hour like the old days - if anything it reminded me why I preferred vaping. And I wasn't even vaping with good stuff at that time either.

Even my wife started smoking out there and she didn't even smoke to begin with! Certainly in India, and I get the impression it's true in a lot of Asian countries, it seemed like everyone was smoking everywhere and it would have taken more willpower than I have to not have any cravings. I don't regret it at all, I'd even forgotten about it until reading this thread think of it as' what happens on holiday stays on holiday' :)

Yeah I decided when we go, i'll see how I go without it.
If I need to, i'll smoke for the duration of the time there. Smokes are so cheap there it won't burn a hole in the pocket.
TBH i'm kinda looking forward to smoke again...just to show myself that I can drop it when I want, and get right back to vaping.
WOW thinking about it now.....that's is actually a huge feeling of freedom....I mean just think about it. We never had that luxury before we started vaping.
So damn cool to be free.
    UP YOURS BIG TOBACCO !!!
