I didn't see any threads on the first few pages, though I'm sure it's been covered somewhere already.

I've heard some vapers say that vaping in Mexico is not tolerated or even illegal - though I'm not sure about the actual laws, I travel to Mexico several times per year, from Canada, and have never had an issue.

Most recently I was in Guadalajara, and at one of the older malls (Plaza Del Sol), there was actually a small kiosk, where two gentlemen were distributing cig look-a-likes from a Texan company called Smokingfree. The kits were very basic, automatic 510 type batteries, and they also had a couple of cigar-style kits. I got into a discussion with the young men running the kiosk, and they told me that it is becoming quite popular there - they were even considering going into business for themselves. Though VERY costly ($200 - $350 for a basic starter kit!), they were selling well and they had some pretty nice flavours (with nic) as well. They were shocked when I pulled out my Lavatube, and I let them have a couple of blasts which they really enjoyed!

It was an enjoyable experience and we exchanged emails - of course I plugged the ECF and told them to join.

Anyways, nice to see vaping taking off in countries that are under-represented on the forums! happy vaping all! :)

It is supposed it's prohibited to sell / import of ecigs on Mexico, but as you saw there are some places that freely sell them at malls and by Internet, normally cheap stuff at big prices.

When I started vaping (two and a half years ago), there weren't local vendors, I thought of opening an online shop, but due the stupid regulations and the fact I do not like illegal things I decided to not sell them.

Theres is a goverment agency called COFEPRIS something like "Federal Comission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks" (depends on the Mexican Ministry of Health), some years ago a new tobacco law came out, it is about the tobacco regulations. An article in that ignorant law says that it is prohibited to sell, import or manufacture any product that looks like a cigarette but is not a tobacco product.

The COFEPRIS misinterpret that article on the tobacco law and advised to the customs to not allow the import of e-cigs but they can't seize them, so if they detect the package contains e-cigs they just do not allow the entrance and return the package to the sender.

What I really think is (as always) a matter of tobacco industry interests and the government incomes due the tobacco taxes.

The stupid mexican tobacco law, that supposed to promote to people quitting smoking, say things like "it is prohibited to sell packages with less than 14 cigarettes", "it is prohibited to sell single cigarettes", etc.

Vaping is not prohibited in Mexico, I vape everywhere, you should see some people's faces when they see me vaping my GGTSs, Katana, Zenesis, etc.

So Dauslyn you were in Guadalajara, I live in Guadalajara !!! would have been nice to meet you.

I was for six months in Vancouver -eleven years ago-, Vancouver is my favorite city (that's where I learnt my poor english)

I'm from Guadalajara! Currently I'm living in Toronto, I have been vaping for a month now. But some friends from Mexico are asking me to bring them some hardware since is really expensive and hard to get some down there.
