Vaping Newbie with some issues..

Hi all,

I have had my new 901 about a week from a friend of a friend who is a private supplier..

All was good untill I developed a cold (damn I hate summer colds)
After a day or two I noticed a really horrible buring taste all of a sudden. It actually made me violently sick.
I tried a brand new cartridge and atomiser and the same thing happened which was weird.

I read about the coke bath method of cleaning so I let them both lie in a shotglass of coke for a few hours then rinced with boiling water and I left them to dry over night battery side up on a paper towel.

It seamed to have done the trick. My atomisers are working perfect again.

Though there is one small issue left that My juice has a very bland taste if not a bit metalic. My cold is pretty much gone just the tail end pf the phlem ect..

Would it be my cold that caused me to loose the taste?
I like sweet ejuice and it tates very bland at the moment.

Any ideas?

That's really odd. Do you have another flavor to try?

If your cold included a runny or stuffy nose, then that very well could cause the loss of taste. Smell and taste are directly linked, so when you have a cold or the flu your sense of taste can become muted. It also takes a week or two for your taste buds to recover once you quit smoking completely.

If you have any cinnamon or peppermint that would be pretty strong against a cold related tastebud drop. Worth a shot.

Very true. Strong flavors will come through much better than fruity or dessert types will. Menthol also works quite well.

Also, if they gave you any Flonase for your cold, it can make EVERYTHING taste kinda metalicy... Dunno about other potential side-effects. I know this from personal experience, not professional experience...

If your cartridge and its stuffing were not totally dry when you added juice, then the juice won't taste right.

If you actually mean cartomizer (no atomizer, just a cart w/ built in atomizer and the one piece screws on the battery), then that is not enough to dry them. cartos are hard to clean, harder to dry. Only some people are successful. Most only put juices they like into cartos and keep the carto damp and get as many days or weeks use out of it they can. And if you don't keep a carto damp then you singe it and ruin the flavor.

If you can't smell you can't taste. A HUGE part of flavor is aroma. The tongue cannot taste anything but sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami (msg). Everything else is aroma. The combination of the tongue taste and the aroma is what makes the flavor of vapor (since vapor lakes the other two clues, visual and texture)

Maybe try a tongue-receptor level juice, like a juice that uses Flavor Art tongue-receptor level tobacco flavor. Desert Ship should do the trick, if you have it around
