First the bad news, smoking 40 years, down to a pack a day in the last few years.
I got interested in e-cigs and almost impulse-bought an uncool thing in a smoke shop, but thought I would research a little first (thanks to the little price barrier...) and that brought me here.
Thanks to y'all I went with a KR808D-1 and I think I am very glad I did. It arrived last Saturday.
I may have had some of the same concerns as others thinking about it. Maybe this will help some of the other fence-sitters out there.
I have a white-collar job in a very nice office place (in virulently anti-smoking CA).
I am a frequent flyer, often internationally.
I have a new baby.
What I wanted was a nicotine replacement, but not necessarily a ciggie lookalike. I did not want a lot of pieces and complexity. I didn't want to mod my first purchase (although now I am starting to get interested), I just wanted to jump into the vape scene to see if it was for me. I absolutely did not know what to expect, and there is a bewildering amount of information here (but thanks for that!).
I am pretty happy with this rig. Of course being a noob I went with ciggie flavors, and have ordered some more, but I also ordered some of the more exotic flavors. I don't think I have the clearance yet to name vendors, but I am happy with the outfit I bought from, and I have the case, 2 batts, the wall and mobile chargers, and some sample carts.
For those thinking about it, I would say this is about 75% of the analog smoking experience at least at first, but the nicotine fix is working. And yeah, vaping is kind of addicting on its own, in a good way.
The 24 Mg carts seem to be the better experience for me, and the lower strength 18s are probably why I can't leave it alone for long.
I have cut flamers down by 3/4, although I suck on this thing all day. I could get seriously interested in the pass through adapter if they make one. One batt gets me through to lunch and the other gets me to the end of work.
I went with silver so it wouldn't be so cigarettey, but I wish the tip didn't glow red, now. Now I realize I don't want this to look like a ciggie at all.
You know I am going to try the liquids next. I just don't know what I'm doing yet, and I didn't want a new chore.
Thanks for steering me to this rig. I am sure there are better but this is pretty damn good. I wish there was a spreadsheet somewhere with all the models, all the clone equivalents, and pros and cons of each type laid out for you. The Guide to vaping was extremely helpful!
At some point I just had to pick one and jump in.
I think anyone sitting on the edge would be happy with the KR808D-1 as a first e-cig, and know they weren't getting taken.
