Vaping since Saturday (and thank you): My decision

First the bad news, smoking 40 years, down to a pack a day in the last few years.
I got interested in e-cigs and almost impulse-bought an uncool thing in a smoke shop, but thought I would research a little first (thanks to the little price barrier...) and that brought me here.

Thanks to y'all I went with a KR808D-1 and I think I am very glad I did. It arrived last Saturday.

I may have had some of the same concerns as others thinking about it. Maybe this will help some of the other fence-sitters out there.

I have a white-collar job in a very nice office place (in virulently anti-smoking CA).
I am a frequent flyer, often internationally.
I have a new baby.

What I wanted was a nicotine replacement, but not necessarily a ciggie lookalike. I did not want a lot of pieces and complexity. I didn't want to mod my first purchase (although now I am starting to get interested), I just wanted to jump into the vape scene to see if it was for me. I absolutely did not know what to expect, and there is a bewildering amount of information here (but thanks for that!).

I am pretty happy with this rig. Of course being a noob I went with ciggie flavors, and have ordered some more, but I also ordered some of the more exotic flavors. I don't think I have the clearance yet to name vendors, but I am happy with the outfit I bought from, and I have the case, 2 batts, the wall and mobile chargers, and some sample carts.

For those thinking about it, I would say this is about 75% of the analog smoking experience at least at first, but the nicotine fix is working. And yeah, vaping is kind of addicting on its own, in a good way.

The 24 Mg carts seem to be the better experience for me, and the lower strength 18s are probably why I can't leave it alone for long.
I have cut flamers down by 3/4, although I suck on this thing all day. I could get seriously interested in the pass through adapter if they make one. One batt gets me through to lunch and the other gets me to the end of work.
I went with silver so it wouldn't be so cigarettey, but I wish the tip didn't glow red, now. Now I realize I don't want this to look like a ciggie at all.

You know I am going to try the liquids next. I just don't know what I'm doing yet, and I didn't want a new chore.

Thanks for steering me to this rig. I am sure there are better but this is pretty damn good. I wish there was a spreadsheet somewhere with all the models, all the clone equivalents, and pros and cons of each type laid out for you. The Guide to vaping was extremely helpful!

At some point I just had to pick one and jump in.

I think anyone sitting on the edge would be happy with the KR808D-1 as a first e-cig, and know they weren't getting taken.

Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking As far as Kr808's go V4L is a great supplier and they really take care of their customers. Every order I have received has come with lots of free samples. They also carry the pass thru you are asking about plus a case that charges your batteries on the go. I got my mom to stop smoking at 70yrs old and she just loves this site.
I also slip a real cig in on some days...until I got a High voltage Modified PV from PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!. You might want to take a look at them. They have a 3.7vprotege and a 5v prodigy v2. With a 901 adapter you can use the kr808 carts. The V5 has really kept me from having any cigs the last few days it just gives me that extra little bit I was missing ..plus the batteries lasted me a full 24hrs. Check out both these suppliers here on the forums under approved suppliers.
Good luck to you!

Very nice post daveshoot and should be helpful to those lurking and thinking about trying e-cigs for themselves. 36+ year smoker myself and fortunately I quit instantly the moment I took my first vape - on my first e-cig - a KR808D-1. I've since obtained and thoroughly enjoy my Joye510 which you'll find to be one of the most popular models available.

You've made a good choice with your KR8. It is a very simple, easy-to-use and has a very good track record with vapers who have and do use them. There are ways to refill your cartomizers that are suppose to be disposable which can save you a few dollars if you do. I've tried too many flavors myself but always end up coming back to the tobacco flavors and the best I've tried yet is the Marlb from Rocky Mountain Vapor but there are many other vendors with good tobacco flavors as well.

Best of luck and keep us posted on your success!

What exactly does the higher voltage do for you? (Rank newb here, I've never even seen an electronic cigarette yet so its an honest question)

thanks

Its only been a few days since I received it. For me, I feel more satisfied..

1. I get a deeper throat hit without having to take drags all the way to the cut off. On my regular kr808 batteries (i had the 13 sec cut off ones) I would prob suck on that thing for 5 sec or more. With the HV maybe 2 sec gives me a great TH. (at 1st it was kinda like switching from and ultra light cig to red...if you know what I mean)

2. I am able to lay it down instead of chain vaping.

3. The batteries lasted about 24 hrs the first day and I was vaping alot when I received it(was very excited) I am usually running to the charger ever 2hrs to get a fresh battery. When the HV batteries went dead..they just went full power to dead..lol..unlike the regular e-cigs batteries that decline in power with each puff it seems.

4. The flavors also seem to stand out better for me.

Of course this is my experience, everyone is different. I just wanted to share...I have not been vaping long. Also there are many HV mods out there that have great reviews..I just ended up picking the Prodigy V2 and love it, but I also dont have anything else to compare it to myself. I hope I was a bit helpful to you.
