I have been dipping since the 3rd grade I am now 42. I quit smoking about 10 yrs ago but never stopped the dip. Have you or someone you know stopped using smokeless tobacco by vaping? A lady at work gave me a battery and a couple of cartridges to see if it helped me this weekend. I can already see a difference.

I never could get that into dipping. I thought it was cool when I was a kid becuase the baseball players use to do it. I found a picture of me on my 10th birthday back in 1984 holding a bag of Jackson's Apple Jack chew, LOL. I'd chew/dip every now and then as a kid but very rarely as an adult. From what I remember it seemed like it gave me a real good blast of nicotine and I'd go hours without thinking about a cigarette. It might just me becuase I'm not use to it or maybe becuase I smoked cigarettes close to the time I dipped/chewed so it was combined with it.

Anyway I think smoking e cigs is more fun than chew/dip and I'm not sure about the nicotine level you will need. I'd think it's more but it could actually be less. I don't see why you couldn't quit by vaping even if you just get use to a moderate nicotine level like 15 or 18 mg. Sometimes with these things you get vaping away watching tv or something (can be long for a tank to run out vs cigarette burning out) and end up taking in a crap load of nicotine even though it is suppose to be absorbed a little slower than cigs. To me the whole nicotine intake issue is a little tricky.

Hey there. That is a long time to be dipping! I quit a can a day green griz habbit back in July. Unfortunately that was before I found e cigs. Went back to smoking cigarettes for 2 months. Then came the vapor. My husband is quitting dip it's only been a couple days. He is switching between e cigs and regular smokes. Try it out see what you think. You should probably get your hands on some high nicotine cartomizers or liquid. Best of luck you will feel so much better if you quit.

I never dipped, but smoked for over forty years. Tried quitting unsuccessfully many times, until I found ecigs. I think it's the addiction to nicotine that makes it so hard, and what ecigs do essentially is sub a different way for your addiction to nicotine. The good thing is you feel healthier & that is what makes the difference.

I quit smoking and went to snus for 2 years. I didn't care for the stained teeth, and internet sales were stopped due to the PACT act.

I then switched to vaping, and never looked back. I even had 20 cans in my freezer that eventually turned frost bitten.

Good luck with the switch. Vaping is so much fun, and is much better for us. :)

I hope vaping works out for you.

1st off...YES..vaping will get you all the nicotine you need to get away from dipping.I too stopped smoking about 12 years ago when my wife developed COPD and a few other serious health issues.I spent my whole life as a heavy smoker.I turned to dipping when she got sick and quickly became a heavy dipper(2 cans a day)..in June of this year a lady at work got hold of a disposable and I tried it .I have never looked back. Not only did it help me stop dipping but I've since converted all previous tobacco users @ work to vaping.
If you have the main ingredient ( desire to stop) you will find that vapor can get you there.Whlie vaping you have the ability to control the amount of nicotine levels in your juice, and this was a big help to me at the start.I used 24 mg juice and quickly reduced that to 9mg .After a while I got back up to 18 and have been there since. The point is,you can adjust as needed till you get rid of that desire to spit..LOL..that was a hard part for me.I will say though,I did notice after a few short weeks I could actually feel my lip again, and that was very reassuring. If you have a real desire to stop using tobacco products, you will have a great tool in your arsenal with vapor.
Good luck,and Welcome to ECF

I used to strictly smoke outside and dip in the house while watching tv or playing a video game especially during winter. Since picking up my vape, I haven't bought a back of cigs or a tin in around 2 months. I find it more enjoyable and neater all while providing nearly the same amount of satisfaction. No more nasty spit filled water bottles or leather feeling lip for me!

I have two friends who have stopped dipping all together with vaping and another who has "significantly" cut-back. What has worked has been the use of liquids that are close to their favorite flavors. I would recommend giving it a shot, it is worth it even if it helps you cut-back. I first used e-cigs three years ago to quit smoking and it didn't work for 2 years until I found the provari and quality liquids.

Whatever you do, seeking advice is a great first step and the best advice is to NEVER QUIT QUITTING.
