Hi Andy and welcome to ECF.

The difference in mAh does not affect the vape itself. The more mAh your battery has, the longer it will last before you have to recharge it.

What will affect the coils is battery voltage (or wattage). Take that too high and it will burn the juice and the vape will taste terrible. Is this what is happening? If so, turn down the voltage.

Coils also eventually need to be cleaned or replaced.

Hope this helps :)

I'd agree with the above posters:
Battery sag, and amp ratings may be effecting your vape.
What is the make & model of your eGos and where did you get them? Output voltage would have more to do with it IMO. a 2.2ohm coil at 3.7v will be pulling 1.7 amps.
I haven't heard many getting dry hits with the 2.2 ohm coils.. What tank are you using?
