Hello all. I'm new to vaping and I was interested in giving it a try. I'm a non smoker, although I did smoke a cigarette once.

While it didn't become a habit/addiction I did like the feel. I've looked at few threads and I fully understand what I could be getting my self into by starting to vape.

So I'm interested in finding out what a good kit for a beginner would be. Also interested in one that has many flavors available, especially ones that have no nicotine. I'd be interested in something that would be available in brick and mortar stores. And I'm looking for something of up to $60 to start out.

I love my Innokin MVP2.0 While it is more than $60 from a BM store, if you order on line you can get it for about $40. It is easy to use, reliable and with a decent tank, it will do everything a new vaper needs. Having said all that, avoid the nicotine! If you are not addicted to it already then please try to avoid becoming addicted to it. Addiction is miserable. (7 years 10 months 18 days sober)

Just my two cents, but i am new as well.

Stay away from any kind of nicotine anything anywhere anyone blah blah blah... also at the b&m make sure when you try flavors to say you dont want nicotine.

Anywho back on track. I started with a halo g6(around 50$ at my b&m), it worked well for a couple days. And i still use it at work. But a cigalike may not be enough for you. I upgraded to an "evod"(45$ for a kit) on sunday night and haven't touched the g6. Well minus charging time for my evod. So if you are looking to turn this into a hobby(since your not a smoker), i would suggest something you can tinker with. Maybe not necessarily a mod... but i would suggest something with variable voltage and maybe try different kinds of setups (tanks, cartos, clearos, etc) Also since you you want a b&m store you can feel the different weight of batteries, some of them are rather heavy. Also get something you want to look at all the time. And if you will carry it in your pocket, tell the people at your b&m. Some setups do leak a little bit.

as for liquid. My b&m has everything but what i use on the daily(ry4) at 0mg. So just ask them. Most of the time the people are extremely helpful. But when it comes to flavors everyone is unique. I cant stand all the fruity flavors, and even though i smoked menthol ciggys, i cant really stand the menthol flavors either. But like i said everyone is a little different.

tl:dr
I talk to much. And just go in and talk to the guys/girls at your local b&m. Flavors are very individualized. And if you like to tinker get something that you can actually tinker with. oh and stay away from nicotine.

Hey there! Like others have subtly hinted, just buy 0mg nic juice if you haven't planned on it already.

Anywho...

EGO is a tried and true brand and their twists and batteries are great! pretty much everyone on here will recommend a new vaper one to start with anyways. it's better to spend 30 bucks to see if you like it or not than to spend 200 bucks on a provari only to not end up liking vaping at all..

best of luck!

Hello Sharky. Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping. I am a twenty-five year smoker, and so I whole-heartedly agree with what everyone else is saying... stay away from nicotine! Okay, now that's out the way...

I started a couple of months ago with an EVOD passthrough (1,000 mah because I was a heavy smoker) sitting under an eGo MT3S plastic tank. I have the MVP II under a Pro-Tank II and it is definitely a step up. However, the original EVOD/eGo kit was a great starter, because even though I purchased it from a brick and mortar, I had everything I needed to vape for about $45, tax and all. That also included my first juice.

If you're just looking for simple pleasure, the eGo/EVOD system works well enough. Personally, I'm getting to be more of a connoisseur, so I'm getting more picky about my stuff.

Juice-wise? It all depends on where you get it. Fresher is better, so if you can find a mixologist, rather than purchasing off the shelf, even better. I've thought about doing some DIY juices, and I'm researching that now. I think most brick and mortars are running a 70/30 PG/VG mixture, which gives great flavor. You won't get the huge clouds, but that may very well be a plus for you.

WORD OF WARNING: some vapers have reported an allergic reaction to the PG in some juices. As most stores run a higher mix of PG in their juices, your mileage will vary. Experiment first, see if you get an reaction or not. If you do, try going to a higher VG content. Lots of people do this for the extra cloud, some do it because they can't tolorate the PG. You'll lose out on flavor this way, so just be aware of that as well.

Vaping isn't like picking up a cig and smoking it. There is a certain art to it. You need to experiment, research, talk to experienced vapers. Above all, don't get frustrated if it doesn't work out for you the first time or two. Try different mixes, and different coils, makes a world of difference.

Hope this helps! Happy Vaping!

Thanks for the tips, especially that bit about the allergic reaction. Hadn't read about that yet. I've been searching to see if I could find any b&m shops here in NYC and while they seem sparse I've found a couple that seem worth visiting. Hope to drop by one of the shops late this week, I'll keep these recommendations in mind. Once again thanks guys:)
