Hey There! Had the exact same problem with my PT. I feel your pain. It is possible to fix this temporarily, till you get the funds together for a new one. You'll need to pull the wire out, cut out the part at the base where it has shorted out and then shave off enough of the protective coating on the wires to expose raw wire, both on the black wire that runs to your PVC port and the 2 tiny wires located inside the PT itself. You can get to these tiny wires by pulling the plastic plug off the base of the PT. After you have twisted the wires together, cover the exposed wire with tape, so that the two connections don't touch.

It's not pretty, but it will work :)

I keep waiting for someone to come out with a heavy duty PT. Haven't found one so far. When you get your next one, be sure to use the suggestion of making a loop out of the cord and then taping the loop to the PT, this will take the strain off the wire at the base of the PT where they always seem to break.

I hope I've explained this well enough for you to get your PT fixed for now. Good Luck!

You gave a pretty good description but i've never done anything like that before so i'd be a bit lost....Probably will try it out if the place i bought it from won't replace it or anything....I'm hoping they will i've only had it for about a week if that
