      First Impressions:

I felt like I kind of knew what to expect since I had already reviewed the PM80 but that kit came with the .2 and .3 coils. First of all, I find the PM80SE attractive in appearance. I’m not usually one to buy a mod or pod with red on it but actually like this one. The blue is also very nice and happens to be my favorite color. The main difference for me is that the PM80SE uses a single replaceable 18650 battery which I find to be a very attractive feature. The door is clearly marked as to which way the battery is installed. The pod is clear just like the prior model which I very much appreciate. I’m rather tired of holding pods up to a flashlight to see how much liquid is in them. Another nice feature is that both units use the same GTX coils and there is a wide assortment of resistances to try which should fit the preference of most people.

The Axon chip used in the PM80SE fires at .001 seconds and offers a pulse mode as well as smart variable wattage where the unit will automatically go to the recommended wattage for the coil that is inserted. You can still change the setting manually. Five clicks will turn the unit on and off and pressing the + and – buttons at the same time will take you to the menu system where you can scroll through using the plus and minus buttons. The 2A fast charging is also another nice feature. One feature that I left out initially on the review for the PM80 which is also used on the PM80SE is that there are plugs included that can be used to close off some of the airflow holes on the side of the unit to adjust airflow. The following are some stock photos that I wanted to include that I liked from the Vaporesso site.

I had already used the .2 and .3 ohm coils in the PM80 but went ahead and tried them in the PM80SE. I felt that they performed about the same which was very well. Both have plenty of airflow and produce fairly large amounts of vapor. The flavor production on these are very good in my opinion but the vapor is a little warm. Next I tried the .6 ohm coil. It was still a bit of a warm vape. It is rated at 20-30 watts and as usual I ended up at the lower end of the range like I usually do with stock coils. I preferred this one at 20-21 watts. Next up was the .8 coil. This one produced a cooler vapor. I really liked the flavor production on this one. It is rated at 12-20 watts and I liked it at 14-15 watts. I felt like the .8 could have used a little more airflow but overall it was one of my favorites. As of yet I have not tried the 1.2 coil but will update the review after I do. I have a feeling that this may be the one that I need to get out the airflow plugs for. Although the plugs are the only airflow control, each different resistance coil gave more or less airflow depending on the resistance. As you would think, the higher the resistance the less airflow available. I think it’s a rather clever design. I did however try the GTX RBA. It was a little difficult for me to build due to my eyes not being as good as they used to be. I did have to get out my prescription reading glasses in order to see well enough to build it. I used one of the included coils that read at .71 and was a 2mm coil according to my coil jig. I’m very much enjoying the rba at 14-16 watts. It’s not too hot or too cold and the airflow is a slightly restricted DTL. By the way, the PM80SE is marketed as a DTL or restricted DTL unit but we shall see after I use the 1.2 coil.

      Final Thoughts:

Overall, I have very much enjoyed testing the Vaporesso PM80SE. I feel like there is a coil to fit just about every person’s preference. I tend to like the more middle of the road resistance coils and that was the case for the most part with these. The .6 and .8 were probably my favorites with the .3 coming in as a close third. I like that the pods are clear so the liquid level is visible and like that the fill plug is easily pulled up and can be rotated while filling. I had no issues filling and had no mess. I did have a little bit of condensation inside the pod opening on the mod with the rba but not enough to be alarmed.

One thing that I feel is important to talk about is something that I hadn’t noticed at first until I spoke with a friend on ECF that is also working on a review for this unit. I had a couple of instances where the resistance on the mod was not matching the coil that was in the pod. The main one that I noticed was the .3 coil would sometimes read at .7. If I removed the pod and put it back in then it would read correctly. I have to guess that perhaps that it didn’t make good contact when I inserted it the first time. The pod is held in by magnets and as you get close to seating the pod, the magnets pull it toward the mod. When it does that perhaps it doesn’t make good contact. I’m guessing here. I honestly wouldn’t have noticed if it hadn’t been mentioned to me. Once I insert the coil of my choice, I set the wattage according to how it feels when I vape and leave it there. My eyes sometimes aren’t that great so it’s a little hard to see the small resistance number on the display.

With that being said, I very much liked this device and the different coils as well as the rba. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile device with many coil options. If you like a cool vape, it does that. If you like a warm vape with big vapor production, it does that too. With the added feature of a replaceable 18650 battery, it makes it a winner in my book. Once again, thanks to everyone that takes the time to read my reviews and thanks to Vaporesso for allowing me to review some of their equipment. I have enjoyed myself. I will later report on the 1.2 coil that I just haven’t managed to get to yet. If you’d like to take a more in depth look at the Vaporesso Target PM80SE then here’s a link to their site.

I very much look forward to your reviews, I'm not ready to buy any thing new right now. This one does sound nice.

It really is a nice unit. I’ve really enjoyed it. If I remember correctly you like Dtl and big vapor. The .3 and .2 coils would be a good fit for that.

I agree, but in the last 2 weeks I bought a freemax fireluke 2,a freemax M pro and a geekvape aegis boost(old one went kaput). Time to cool my heels for a bit.

I understand where you’re coming from. I went on a spending frenzy for about 4 months prepping for deeming. Then they moved the date. I’ve calmed down for the most part but am still buying here and there even though there’s nothing I need.

I did take out the .3 coil this morning and installed the 1.2 coil. I could tell from the smaller opening of the coil that it's definitely a mouth to lung coil. It's not a super tight draw like some look for in an mtl device but it fits my style of mtl very well. It's a somewhat airy mtl. I think that the flavor is really pretty good on it. It's only rated up to 12 watts and I'm running it on 10 watts so far. This coil is a good complement to the line of coils to help this device fit most users from very open dtl to airy mtl.

I also wanted to touch back on the coil resistance difference that I mentioned in the review. I only noticed it on the .3 coil and used the same .3 coil over the weekend and did not have a wrong reading on the device. I'm guessing that it was a fluke. I since cleaned the contacts and and installed the 1.2 coil and have not had any further incorrect readings. I will keep using the device and report back if I have any further issues. I truly do very much like the PM80se. If I did not, I would have said so in my review.
