thanks redd & lone_wolf.

I was born in 1964, but like spartanstew above i sometimes think i wish i was born in the late 40's or early 50's so i could have been a part of 60's and 70's instead of a child standing back in awe of it all. Other times i wish i would have come of age in the 20's or 30's all that flapper girl, jazz "decadence" so for now i'll stick with the 60's, and will probably decide later on the 20's as my secondary decade.

good luck every one, and enjoy this is gonna be fun

1 I was born at the beginning of the 70s, but I might as well have been born in the 40s or earlier, as that was the environment I grew up in, very behind the times.
I wish though I had been born far in the future, I know there will be problems then too, but it could be a much happier time, especially with flying cars and robots!

It seems silly now, but when this movie came out, people really were afraid of the going into the ocean. I live in a coastal town and I've surfed since I learned to swim, so I was shocked when family friends, visiting over the summer, didn't want to go to the beach. (My parents left me at home when they went to see it because they thought I might be afraid.)

Jaws (1975)
Steven Spielberg made a huge splash with this tale of a crazed shark targeting the swimmers of a resort island called "Amity." Based on Peter Benchley's best-seller, the film follows city-trained police chief Jim Brody (Roy Scheider) as he tries to bait and hook a man-eating great white who's chowing down on tourists. Brody teams with marine biologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and crusty, Ahab-like shark-hunter Quint (a masterful Robert Shaw), for a harrowing search-and-destroy mission. The score, by John Williams, is hard to forget, and underscores the tension evoked by a predator that's rarely seen in the film. Though beset with technical problems, the film's animatronic star, "Bruce," a 25-foot mechanical great white shark, was used to maximum effect, and would be the first artificial character to work with Spielberg, followed by the squatty alien E.T. and the modern Pinocchio of "A.I." "Jaws" took a bite out of the box-office by surpassing the $100 million mark for the first time in Hollywood history, and gave viewers a taste of Spielberg's talent. Many immitators would soon follow in his wake. -CAF
