Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper, Elvis is Everywhere (1987)
Celebrating decidedly red-blooded American and blue collar values was psychobilly musician Mojo Nixon's forte, but he had a particular knack for skewering celebrity status. The first, and arguably best, example of this was taken from his 1987 album with partner Skid Roper, Bo-Day-Shus. "Elvis is Everywhere" pokes fun at Elvis sightings, true believers, and the peculiar industry of Elvis impersonators.

Echo & the Bunnymen, Lips Like Sugar (1987)
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, "Lips Like Sugar" is perhaps Echo & the Bunnymen's most well-known song. Taken from the band's self-titled 1987 album (their fifth), the song is much more "modern rock" than the post-punk psychedelia of their earlier work, but that is also fitting with the times and the changing tastes of listeners.

90s Newwave from Missoula MT my second home. Wish I could find live videos of these guys with decent sound, they were all sorts of fun. Used to love seeing them at Jay's Upstairs, tiny dingy rock n' roll attic that got to shaking pretty good with a couple hundred hepped up cats bouncing about. Scariest back stairwell ever.
