I cannot find it - However there is even a "SteelJan" video that talks about using either a USB Hub and/or a Wall Wart with a passthrough instead of plugged directly into a computer . . . She even has one on how to fix an eGo Twist . . . Just Sayin' . . .
AC powered USB hubs are cheap, and you can use them for your camera, cell phone, Ipod, and any other USB devices you need to charge and/or plug in.
It's just not worth taking a chance with the motherboard on a computer, which is way more expensive than a little usb vaping device or a usb hub to run this stuff. Stuff heats up, can melt, etc. shorted atty could do some major damage.
Get a hub, you can even get them pocket sized and carry with you. I say get AC powered because otherwise it is still going to be pulling all it's power from your computer, instead of from separate electrical socket.

Me too. The hardest part can be diagnosing which part no longer contains the magic smoke.

I've built a number myself in the past, I really hate it now.
But laptops not as easy. Took a few apart, not quite as easy peasy as a desktop, and laptops are a lot more expensive. Right now about twice the cost of a desktop.
Just sayin'........I wouldn't use the usb port on a laptop for a vaping charger........and even with a desktop, finding and popping in a new motherboard plus your time with labor is STILL going to be a heck of a lot more expensive than at $20 or less USB hub.
I don't mean to be a pain, just stressing a point I feel is important.
Sort of like how I tell people to be careful with Facebook......have a computer repair guy who pretty much makes a living now just taking viruses off computers from users who FB a lot. It's a well targetted site for that stuff. He could literally not do any other repairs and still stay afloat, that is how many virus ridden PCs and laptops he receives these days. Except from people using a hardware firewall of course.
