I was out of my current country of residence until today so I just finally got my hands on the vs DNA200.

Pardon my over-enthusiastic response but this was worth the wait. I joined ECF in 2010 so I figure I've been at this for about 6 years. This is the experience I've been after since I started.

I was very satisfied with my rdna40 but the problem was I just couldn't get any dual coil setup to perform like a single nickel coil on my subtank mini. It would heat up too slowly or need some primer puffs to start producing decent clouds. This thing is different - frankly it's kicking my ....

A few problems I had to start off:
1. The coil I had on the 40 was giving harsh burnt hits even at 240F. I couldn't seem to dial in a cool vape until later in the day when it just wimped out and wouldn't give a warm vape even at 500. I think I burned out the coil. I must have attached it hot or something. Willing to blame myself for this considering the awesome vape I'm getting now.
2. Some of my tanks and rdas feel wobbly on top the 200. Maybe it's because of the more recessed 510 connector. I don't know... but it wobbles when shaken.
3. I had a mild panic attack when the fire button didn't glow red while charging. It turns out there's a battery% readout and charging indicator on the LCD now.

I can't believe I'm getting dizzy on 6mg liquid with temp limiting. I am a happy camper.

There are a few things to consider.
Compressed coils don't give a good temperature reading which is why most people use spaced. Also, most people feel like I do, I do not want to glow coils due to potential safety concerns.

With that being said with my DNA40 I have the same issue with priming depending on your build, You could go smaller gauges might help. Now the DNA200 is night and day because you can customize that time. I am running a single Clapton 26g wrapped with 28g and it heats up in no time, i've even backed it down from 200w to 100w on the priming setting or rampup what ever they call it.

1. check your coil is secure and resistance is solid. Using escribe select the wire type you are using and make sure you are using the correct profile.
2. A few tanks I tried have no issues with the 510.
3. My fire button glows red while charging. Dim red.

Thanks for the tips.

My eyes are pretty bad and my usb cable gives off a bright red glow. I thought I saw a dim red but blamed it on the cable. Anyway, the LCD readout comforted me. It definitely doesn't glow like my 40 but I'm fine with that.

I'll give the escribe a whirl. I received it at work and couldn't wait for home to start playing with it.

Yes I also prefer the spaced nickel. I never got contact coils to perform as expected.

Next stop... dual Clapton :)

Thanks for the advice!

FWIW, the wobbles are coming with the plumeveil rda and black widdow rta.

The subtank mini and Lemo2 fit like a glove.

Well its ba-ack! :)

10 days door to door CA-FL-CA with 2 weekends and a holiday included. They replaced the DNA board and the battery and paid shipping both ways. I'm impressed.

Mod has gained an interesting pattern from the bubble wrap but I expect that to fade pretty quick!

I'm guessing they're pretty busy so it took 10 days. I had my DNA40 replaced because of a bad fire button in 5 days from shipping out with their pre-paid label. I guess it was a slow time for them (no sales or product launches). I've heard others in CA receiving their repairs in less than 7 days.

Can't wait to get mine!

18 days since I've gotten mine and I love it. Found the perfect vape for me with the crown tank in tc mode @ 80 watts, 520f, 100f preheat. The flavor is incredible without being too hot. It's 8/21/15 build and have zero finish issues. In my car it's in the cup holder or in my hand. At work is in my tool bag. The top corners shows a bit of wear but nothing out of the ordinary. I will get a skin as soon it's available. I might even get another one of I can swing it. Anyone using the vortice rda on this successfully?

Vapor Shark DNA 200 - Finish Notice & Update

Since the release of the DNA 200 we have received several emails regarding the outer finish peeling off easily.

Upon further investigation into these claims, we discovered that several of our initial batches missed a very important step in the final paint and curing process at our manufacturing plant.

There are three steps to our paint and finishing process. The aluminum casing is first anodized black, then painted black, and finally finished with Vapor Shark’s trademark rubberized coating. During this investigation we discovered that a critical part of the curing process was not properly executed on several of the initial batches of DNA 200 casings.

After this discovery we made the decision to halt production, thoroughly examine all currently finished and assembled DNA 200’s, and sort out the affected batches.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

  • During this sorting process we will be returning all affected devices to our manufacturing plant for processing. This has inevitably pushed back our schedule for shipping by approximately 14 days.
  • WE DON’T WANT YOU TO BE WITHOUT A MOD! For those of you currently affected, please continue to use your mod while our manufacturing plant produces proper quality casings. We are on schedule to receive DNA 200’s with proper casings by September 30th. If your device has been affected, kindly send a picture of your device with the affected area in view to support@vaporshark.com on or after September 30th. Please include your name and order number.

We certainly apologize for the inconvenience, but we want to assure everyone that’s heard or seen this issue in any format whatsoever that (a) the device you received, if affected, will be replaced by Vapor Shark and (b) that all future devices will have been assembled and finished on par with Vapor Shark’s manufacturing and quality standards.

Thank You,

Vapor Shark

I received that email too, I'm really pleased they are addressing this issue, would far prefer waiting a bit longer than getting a a VS with issues. I'm in the UK too so would be a long wait if it has to go back for any reason.

I don't like the thought of them being sent back to have the innards ripped out and put in a new shell though, feels like we are getting a recycled unit, I just hope they take care when doing the transplant!

I have always loved the vaporsharks, had the Dna 20, DNA 30 and the RDNA 40 but always thought the quality control was lacking. Some had really rattley buttons, every single one had dust and crud under the screen from new and poorly finished or scratched paint jobs and there warranties suck, 3 months is laughable and doesn't install confidence in their own products. Funnily enough, never had issues with the rubber coating though, but would prefer it was just painted or anodised.

I just wish they put more pride in to QC like Provape do, the vaporshark is a quality product and deserves to be treated like one in the manufacturing process. If only Provape would start making a DNA box mod, now that would be perfect!

From the various forums I've been reading up on, the thing that bothers me more than this flaky rubber is peoples attys not sitting flush, with an unfixed 510, this is a real issue, to the folks who already have one, has this been an issue at all or are these just random dodgy ones that need returning?

I would love it if VS offers a hard anodised finish, I would be all over it.
Totally agree, bare metal polished or brushed, painted well, anodised or cerakote would all be FAR better than a rubber finish, although the rubber is practically good, feels nice and is very grippy.

What I really don't understand is how they can mess up this rubber coating, my mrs still uses Ego batteries, she has 2 year old egos and the rubbery coating is the same as it was day 1, No peeling, chipping or flaking and she treats them like crap.

So while I wait (ugh) I'm thinking about going ahead and buying some power accessories. Specifically, a new usb charger for the car and a portable power bank. There are a lot of Qualcom 2.0 products in both categories -- would paying the premium do anything for me, or would any 2.1amp device suffice. Most I've seen are rated at 2.4 with "power IQ".

Also assuming I'll want around 10k mah for the portable power bank? (as I write this, I'm questioning whether carrying an extra lipo nearby would be the better bet).

Manufacturing issues happen... gotta love the customer service and willingness to fix an issue! I had an issue with a different item. All they asked for was a picture and I received a replacement in the mail right away!

Let me add to this:

Though I do not drop things I did drop my VF Flask. Contacted VShark, now CS for the Flask, paid the $ 85 diagnostic fee. They returned the Flask but the "weak battery" error appeared.

Contacted CS again, reported the problem, returned it.

Now the Flask is again due to me on Monday coming, having been fixed by the Techs and actually tested, hands on, by a CS.

No complaints.

So after cancelling my order on the 11th due to the extended shipping delays for what appeared would be 3 or more weeks, last night I receive an email that my Vapor Shark DNA 200 has shipped with a tracking number. I double checked my credit card and the refund had definitely gone through, and no additional charges added. Free Vapor Shark DNA 200 for me! Just kidding I was going to call them when I received it, they ended up calling me today to let me know they made a mistake in delivering it and asked if I still wanted it. I confirmed it was one with the fixed paint, he assured me it was- good news for everyone.....and also assured me if their ARE any issues with the paint, they will absolutely cover it. So I told him I would take it and paid them again. I will post a review upon receipt.
In the meantime, last week I ended up at a shop that had the DNA 40 and RDNA 40 which included a skin and wireless charger for a price I couldn't refuse. I'm insane, I bought it, along with the DNA 40 as a nice small backup device, placed the SX Mini for sale to offset the costs, now it looks like the RDNA 40 kit will be going up as well :). I haven't bought and sold like this since the early days of Android phones lol

Good to hear they're starting to ship again. I readjusted my expectations of getting mine by the end of Sept but they might be still on track.

I have a VS DNA40 and rDNA40 and love them. I bought and sold 2 SX350j mods. I also sold a Hana V4 since I have a few other DNA40's and plans for 3 more DNA200's (already have 2 boards and the VS DNA200 on order).

Hi bud,
if you dont mind me asking, when did you originally order it? I'm thinking if any of these mods are going to be pucker it will be the next few batches as they will make double sure they are sending out good ones, they want a smooth as a release as possible. I'm sticking with my preorder and crossing my fingers, good to hear they assured you any issues would be sorted with the paint work if it does crop up, more than has been offered in the past with VS, but hope you get a perfect one straight away!

Hey Stan, I ordered August 18. I am thinking at this point future devices in general should be good to go. So far I'm not reading about major issues on the chip, and I'm sure if anything crops up it could be easily fixed with a firmware update. Can't wait to get it!

Cheers bud, think I still have a long wait ahead then, mine was ordered 6th September!! :(Yeah I'm really looking forward to this one, dna 200 is a very impressive board, can't see the need for another version, plenty powerful enough and with firmware upgrade it's future proofed!

Now just fingers crossed vaporshark do their part, a mod which doesn't shed its skin like a snake, no wobbly rattling buttons and a 510 where everything sits flush, we will all be very happy vapers :thumb:
