No, that wouldn't happen. They wouldn't change their reference design for one company. If they did it for one, they'd do it for all. And a 2A charging circuit actually eats up quite a bit of landscape to regulate the power. It's kind of funny, the 2A charging board looks bigger than the evolv board.

Actually, Evolv does customize their boards for larger companies/orders. I don't know if they did for VS or VS went with a daughter board like they usually do.

I've seen them customize the firmware (i.e., splashscreen) but not the reference design. Changing the circuitry would be part of the reference design and frankly I don't think it's possible to put 2A charging on the board without making it significantly bigger.

Just got my VS unpacked today and charging - it is a BEAUTY. Also downloaded escribe and started it up. I didn't get any warning message that the firmware version was out of date. Is there a quick way to get the firmware version for the device, and then determine if it is the latest?

UPDATE: BTW - found a very cool and easy way to update the theme images. I used a tool called Pixelformer - http://www.qualibyte.com/pixelformer/ - you can import any color image, crop it, and then export it using monochrome with the right pixel size needed by the Escribe software. See attached for the before and after -- took me less than 5 minutes to convert it.

I'm hearing the lavabox has 2 amp charging as well, so maybe they have a daughter board or evolve is making hardware changes. Somebody really needs to post pics of the VS guts.
Where did you hear that? Their site still says 1 amp balance charger, I would consider buying one if it was 2a. The lavabox is my 2nd favorite design after the VS200 (although that screw-on rubber grip looks like a pain to clean).

On a side note, I asked about the shark skins last night because I really don't want to take mine out of the house without it. Here was their response:
"We may have them within 1 month or so. They will be up for sale online as soon as we receive them."

Edit- Just saw a few lavabox reviews from today mentioning the 2a quick charge feature, very cool.

Go to Device Monitor and the version is on the lower right corner of the window.

So... I'm really liking the VS. The regulation is better then the Yihi. No rattlesnaking. Just nice and smooth vapor.

I did have to flip the screen in Escribe. Until then, I thought this device was going to give me tendinitis.

The finish is great! The profiles are great! The menu navigation is OK. It would be nice if we could do more customization form the menu, but Escribe isn't difficult. Just a PC away.

Charging is fast, but the 900MAh battery goes quickly.

Picking up some juice and wire tonight to really put it through it's paces.

In the meantime, I keep thinking I lost it because it's is so light. I can't even tell it's in my pocket. The Yihi was stretching out my belt.

I agree with you on all points except the battery, this is a great device. I have been enjoying great results with the battery. Vaping on a Subtank with .6 ohm coils at 25-30 Watts and it's gotten me from pulling it off the charger at 8am and still has charge in it when I put it on the charger as late as 1-2am night time. 18650's had me swapping batteries by dinner time.

I'm hoping it's the battery breaking in, but I got until about noon before it was 50% discharged. I charged before bed last night.

I have a feeling that it's not quite going to be enough for a whole day. Close, but not quite. That said, I'd go through 2-3 18650's in that much time.

Has anyone noticed a gap when you have tanks or rdas? Out of almost all my tanks only the crown and one of my 4 subtank minis fits flush. I would crank down on it I just don't feel like messing up my new device. It's kinda frustrating me.
Everything I have tried thus far fit flush, phenotype-l, royal hunter, velocity clone, TM RDA, goliath v2, goblin mini.

On those tanks and rdas do any of the pins stick out like a mm or so? I've got my derringer clone plume veil clone and crown and one STM fits flush but there pins protrude only about a hair, anything over that hair or two and it doesn't sit flush. I wouldn't care but when they aren't flush the 510 sways side to side real bad, unlike some devices that aren't flush but they are atleast sturdy feeling. Not sure if they will help me out if I try to return it. I like the device but this is a real bummer. :(

Yeah, all the RDAs I listed have the 510 pin that sticks out, I've used them all comfortably with my hybrid top mech, the two tanks as well.
