I'm looking for some advice and potentially someone to help me out with the actual soldering work.

I love the form factor of my little VS DNA30 but since all my other mods are DNA40s I've pretty much moved exclusively to nickel coil attys. I even started using nickel nautilus coils this week. As a result my little DNA30 is kinda left out in the cold. Since I love the form factor I'd like to try to convert the DNA30 to a DNA40. I've popped it open and it looks like the board itself could be a direct swap with zero modifications to buttons or mounts. While I know the DNA40 board is supposed to limit output based on the battery, I think that ideally the existing 1200mah 10amp lipo cell would need to be upgraded to allow up to 16 amps. I found this cell that looks to fit the dimensions and power specs needed. Thoughts? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__23320__Turnigy_nano_tech_1200mah_1S_15C_Round_Lipo_.html

Has anyone done this before? If I were able to get all the parts together, but didn't trust my soldering, is there some who would be interested in doing commission work?

changing battery and board is quiet easy in regards to modding...probably my easiest mod to date. having said that, it requires soldering and modding skills, and not for the faint of heart. the hobbyking batteries are the same size as the stock dna30 and are a perfect replacement. solder leads onto the hk battery, cut the old one out, solder the new one in with heatshrink tubing to cover solder joints, close her up and vape.

the sled that holds the dna board needs slight alteration due to the dna40 chipset being slightly different, but barely. youll see what i mean when you open it up and compare chips and the slot that accomodates it. all i did was open the slot slightly at one end. otherwise it slides in, buttons line up, and everything else being the same. all dna40 boards are temp protected, so any shop that deals them will do. that hobbyking battery linked above is perfect, just make sure to order from a uk wherehouse if they have that option, otherwise it can take a month or more.

And does the board just fit right in? Straight replaces the old one?

The battery in the link above
, is that the right one to go for and does it last longer?

The HobbyKing battery will last the same (1200 mah), but has a higher amp limit so you can use the full range on a DNA40, which goes up to 16 amps. The stock battery goes up to 10 amps I believe.

I think the fire button light fails because the DNA40 has the center pin lower in voltage (-) than the case while the DNA30 has the center pin higher (+). This makes the LED reversed for the DNA40 so it doesn't light up. Swapping the wires might work but only if the switch doesn't use case ground. I think the lighted buttons are a bit tacky. I know I'm firing it and my finger is over the button so nobody can see it anyway.

No. The minimum ohm is a limitation of the chip used (Evolv DNA 30), not the battery. If you want longer battery life, build higher ohm coils.
Ahh i see what you mean. Well i do need to change the battery, as mine is always changing. I don't know what's wrong with it, tried VS reset method and that doesn't really work either.

What exactly is your battery issue? How long can you vape on a full charge?

*edit: How old is your DNA30? What build are you vaping with? The more info you can provide, the better we can help you.

Basically it says the battery is full, but when i vape it goes to flat, cuts out, restarts then goes to full.
says weak battery. Happens with all my atomizers too.
It probs doesn't even last 1hour. I have a 1.3-1.4 ohm coil in, cotton, vaping at around 12-14watts.

It used to be fine, but now it's just weak battery. I have to charge it to full, then use it. After like a hour it goes to half way (not even constant vaping) the issues start like weak battery or the battery amount jumping around.

Had a few times where i left for work, says battery is full, get to work after 3-4 vapes boom battery level empties.

Had for around 6months or so i rec.
Kinda felt screwed as just as i bought this, 2weeks later the RDNA30 was released.
Couldn't even return it as the vendor, i purchased from closed down due to illness circumstances.
