I would love to see my older sister quit smoking. Bizarrely enough over the years I have told her " If I ever quit then you wont be able to smoke in my house or car." We had both smoked for 25 years so I guess she thought I was blowing smoke up her.... ( but now I am not). At Christmas time there was a huge fight in our family when another sister an occasional smoker refused to let my older sister smoke in her vehicle after pulling up and stubbing out her cigarette. Well I started on my journey to cigarettelessness in Janurary and my sister did not even know. When I bought my PV I told her but she still did not get it!!! So when I was completely done with cigarettes I called and told her now she has not called for a ride or to visit ( I live about 30miles away) I hope I can get her to quit at least on of her vices, and be willing to come out to my house!!!

Update:
I was just on the phone to her this evening and she started her hacking cough, so that gave me the perfect in. I said "How long has it been since you heard me hacking or coughing during one of our phone calls. She was quiet for a few minutes like she was thinking and then went on about how the nicotine patches they gave her in the hospital did not work at all. I explained how I had tried the patches twice, the lozenges, the gum, and chantix. But within 3 weeks of buying my PV I went from 3 packs a day to quiting, at the end the cigarettes started tasting nasty, like I was licking the bottom of a stale ashtray. Still workinig on her!!!!!

Prayers going up for the 4 people that end up with the kits from this generous contest. May they be ready to accept this gift and may they be willing to take this first step to a healthier way of life.

Thank you darkstorm.

I totally agree to this post, thank you for you generosity to smokers soon to be vapers.

In truth my career satisfaction comes from helping addicted smokers find this alternative. I was finally able to honor the promise I made to my father on his death bed, I have quit smoking. I derive satisfaction from helping others find this same path.

Not an entry:

That is so moving, Darkstorm!

I think many of us here understand, as we have had loved ones who have died, or are very ill, from the ciggies.

A light goes on and you know you can't undo that damage, but you can help create a healthier life out there for other people.

i dont have a heart wrenching story id want to tell but but i do have some dear friends id like to get of cigs.

Hey, look at it this way, if they are smokers, it IS heart-wrenching.

I remember when I first came to ECF, and one of the guys helping me kinda brought it home that it could very well be the NEXT cigarette I smoked that did me in. We just don't know.

I know that now that I've quit, and it was relatively pretty EASY with vaping, I do feel great great sadness for people I see coughing and smoking.......I want to run up to them and hug them, thrust an ecig at them, "HERE!". But of course, I don't but I do "ask" people, and I mean complete strangers, pretty much everywhere I go --- I carry biz cards from vendors here, and write ECF forum address on back of them, etc. Need to get some ECF and CASAA cards LOL

My fiances parents.
They have had many many hardships in their lives. Both lost their jobs to the economy. Her father has been smoking heavily since he was 12, his wife, since 14. Both of them have heavy lung problems, and are showing signs of emphezema, her father is only 47 and can no longer walk without the aid of a cane due to an injury while on the job at a construction site, and also injuries sustained in jail by a cellmate while incarcerated for stealing food for his daughter after losing his job. At the time, they had nowhere to live.
Now, he still smokes two packs a day even though he can barely breathe. He wants to quit. He knows its killing him, but he can't afford to buy a kit, and I could barely afford mine, because of college expenses.
I'm posting this with faith that though my entry was late in the game, the generosity of the users on the ECF hosting this giveaway will see this post and know the pain of watching someone they love slowly slipping away while the tobacco industry counts their dirty money.
Please, help me save my in laws. I have no other way to help them as of now. I'm not asking for two kits, I just don't want to see them die. Both already cough incessantly while just walking to the front door when the doorbell rings. You'll be saving two lives with one kit.

While waiting for darkstorm to choose their lucky winners, I have decided to post this here. I have been trying to decide where else to post it beside the thread that I frequent. Friends have told me that I should tell people. I cannot think of a better place than where people are trying to save lives. :) I hope it helps inspire you. While I said in my story that my sister has emphysema, I didn't tell you that I also had it..... until now.

good evening everyone!

Today was doctor day. All day..... hateful day.....driving driving....doctor.....x-rays.......whatever else she can think of...LOL blood work....driving back........pharmacy....etc. It hurts and is exhausting and I am so so so happy to be home. And happy to be here with you guys because I have news.

Really really good news.

News I have not shared with anyone yet. You guys are the first.

One of the minor things that I see my doctor for is emphysema. I have so much going on with me, it seems minor anyway. I am basically in my hover round, in my house all the time with the most exquisitely horrible pain, round the clock. I am not anymore because my wonderful doctor has been the last 4 months getting me adjusted to these fentanyl patches that I wear 24/7. The pain level is down to around 2 which is a miracle. It is wonderful. I can't even tell you how great it is... but, that is not my good news for today.

I was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago with emphysema. Last time I had a chest x-ray, I had emphysema.

Today, I do not have emphysema!

I do have bronchial asthma. I knew that already. Doctor says my lungs are clear, I do not have emphysema. My lungs are clear. omg how does that happen? She has no way to explain it to me. So, she just smiles and say.... "You do not have emphysema, we need note that in your chart." I don't think this happens much. I really don't think this ever happens!

I quit smoking almost a year ago. April 11. That is when I started vaping. I do not know what to say. I am blown away. :)

and just very very happy. LOL
