Hi everyone,
I purchased my mum a Protank Mini 2 on Friday. On Monday, I dissembled it to clean it and dry burn the coil. Since I have assembled it, I have been experiencing an array of problems. I found that the vapour wasn't as strong so I changed the head. Since then it keeps leaking into the battery and out of the air holes. It is also leaking into the drip tip. The battery is overheating. I removed a flavour wick since the liquid is quite thick, but this only made it worse. Therefore I replaced it with a cotton flavour wick. Now vapour is coming out of the air holes and the liquid is disappearing at an alarming rate. I just refilled the tank and there is no liquid left.

I am really frustrated and so is my mum. She had hoped that it would help her quit, but she is contemplating returning to cigarettes. P

It sounds like the coil isn't seated properly, whatever the reason we may find:

Is it the right coil? The coils made for a Kanger T3s/MT3s are different than the coils for a PT/EVOD. Buying the wrong coils can cause all sorts of leaking problems.

More likely if it's leaking liquids like a sieve and you have vapor coming out the vent holes in the base - it sounds like the coil isn't fully screwed into the base. Take it off, unscrew, and screw the coil in again - firmly.

As someone mentioned you could have an o-ring missing or out of place. There is one on the base, right at the bottom of the threads that the tank screws onto. And there is one on the coil, right below that round metal washer that seats into the base. Check for both.

I had that happen - I realized when I was in inhaling I'd unknowingly exhale these short hard breaths back through the air tube - then vapor would jet out the air holes. I also find I go through liquid faster than a standard tank, but shrug it off as a trade off for more vapor and flavor with each hit (I may be wrong). Haven't had mine leak on me, though, unless I'm refilling.

To the original poster: What's the PG/VG ratio of the liquid you're using?

I found when using a PT2 (something I try hard not to do anymore) that if it was anything at or above 70/30 the viscosity of the liquid was too thin, and no matter how tight your seals, o-rings, etc, it would eventually leak through the bottom of the coil.

Are you sure the o rings on each end of the tank are seated correctly? When I take mine apart, sometimes an o ring is sticking to the tank on one end and the other o ring stays in the metal part. When you put it back together you have to make sure there is an o ring for the top and the bottom of the tank. Does that make sense?

When I clean mine, I do it one tank at a time and keep the pieces together so that when I reassemble I don't end up with two o rings on one end or something similar. Since the o rings sometimes stick to the tank, you can end up with issues if you swap parts with other tanks where the o rings are still in the top/bottom caps.

Or, it could be a bad coil head. Also, if the tank gets screwed on too tightly, you can pinch the insulator underneath the coil which basically renders it useless. You'll need to pull the metal pin down slightly and then pull the insulator down slightly then push slowly until there are not gaps. I find when this happens my coil runs hot and the tank gets warm. I have to remember not to tighten down too much.
