I have been window shopping for a variable power mod for a bit. Something that can take an 18650 battery. Big enough for a solid day of vaping, easily swapped with a fresh battery, and I have a ton of them. I modified a generic battery from voodoo, swapped the original lipo of 650 mah with an 18650 soldered in at 2500mah.

I kind of over introduced my inquiry here, bear with me.

While browsing the selection of vv and vc mods, i noticed some go into the 50w+ range. What is the purpose for this? I am quite happy with 1.8 ohms at 4 volts. All of around 9 watts of power. I can understand a little higher for lower ohm coils. But, arent we just aiming for a specific temperature of the coil to vaporize the ejuice? At 50 watts, it sounds like people would rather stuff a hairdryer with wick and ejuice.

Do I understand it correctly that a larger coil at the same resistance, would need more voltage/current to vaporize the ejuice in a comparable amount of time? Given that, at 50w+, the coil would have to be huge to avoid overtemp, burning of the wick/juice.

It seems that a mod capable of 50w would be used to supply something like a hookah for vaping. Not for a personal vaporizer.

What am I missing?

Or is this close to the horsepower wars of the 70s? "I have a 500hp sedan for sale, although you wont ever use it to its potential..... but its there! And, you can tell all your friends about it."
