Variable Voltage... Click 5 times or Twist? That's the question

I've been doing some research on new batteries for when I'm out and about. I've been at this on and off for a couple of years now, just recently hanging up the tobacco after needing surgery a couple of months ago. I'm currently using Riva 750mah batts with a Vivi Nova for travel and a pass through with a Vivi Nova while I'm at the PC.

The USB Ego Passthrough that I have has the 4 different voltage levels.. "voltage options : 3.0, 3.6, 4.2 and 4.8V. that you click the switch 5 times in quick succession, to set. I've noticed that although the higher voltages make some flavors pop, at the higher voltages, 4.2 and above, things start to taste kind of burnt.

Has anyone done a side by side comparison of the preset variable voltage batteries (5 click units like the RIVA 1100 with 4 separate discrete voltage settings,) as opposed to the Ego Twist that isn't locked in and can probably be adjusted mid vape.

Do many of you exceed 4 Volts on a regular basis? For those of you that have tried both the 5 click discrete VV devices and the Twist, do you have a favorite and why?

Right now, I just can't justify an extra $10 for less amperage and cheap potentiometer, but I am thinking that I'd really prefer the analog controls.

However with finances being tight and Xmas time here, I'm leaning towards this kit as it's the model of battery I've been looking at and less expensive than buying 2 of the batteries. Riva 510 Starter Kit 1100mAh Stainless Steel

Have any of you purchased from this vendor Double Eagle Xt9 before and are they reliable?

Thanks in advance to anyone that bothers to respond to my query,

K

I vape around 3.8 to 4.2 range
In the end the egos will fluctuate as the battery dies down, the twist is just more accurate for in between the click and set voltages
if 3.6 just doesnt have enough kick and 4.2 seems just a hair too high what can you do? nothing. with VV it's just easier to dial in the correct voltage for the device instead of always worrying about " i must always buy 2.4 coil heads"

I dont really think theres a good way to compare them side by side. they are all about the same in the end.

never heard of Double Eagle Xt9 so no idea myself.

a few bucks more from a killer vendor http://www.hoosierecig.com/V2-1100mAh-KGO-Kit-_p_10.html

Thrasher, I really appreciate your input... Looks like this KGO (in the kit from Hoosier) isn't the 5 click Variable voltage... (I Guess I really should just bite the bullet and go with the twist or at least buy one of them to play with...)

aaah didnt notice that sorry...... just bite the bullet and get something with twists or spinners - they really are more flexible and give you more range even if you never go above 4v it's there, like when i am at work and my coil starts to get gunked up, I cant always stop to play with stuff so i just turn it up a little and it powers through it.

I have a 5-click one with 3 voltage settings, and use it mostly when in the car (with Cigar lighter USB adapter). My reasoning for getting the 5-click type: I can set it and know it won't get accidentally bumped into the "burn-the-juice" mode. A twist could easly get turned to high voltage, and I won't know I toasted the carto until it happens. Of course on of my juice tastes better at 3.9V than 3.8, and another best at 4.4v rather than 4.2, but these limited voltage settings are close enough, and it is one less thing to have to re-adjust while driving.

Shantyshaker12 ... Thank you for the links... I will be getting a twist kit to try... I may just get the other kit so that I have more than enough batteries... (The husband has a real knack for misplacing things...) and what he doesn't lose, I drop and break... (It is an unholy union... But after 21 years we still get along most of the time...)

Thanks again for all your help

I found this website and they have 650 twist and and 1100mah twists. they also have the Ego-V too which is the new digital version of the twist. I actually ordered both and love them. I also think if you Type in ECF and your SN you get more free stuff. They also have free shipping, w00t w00t!! =D

I didn't know about the deals and steals page... I'm still waiting to get enough posts to get to the classifieds section... (I was a member a few years ago and tried to re-register with the same email acct and they disabled the old account so I am starting all over and am not up to enough posts yet.)

I am checking all the links and hoping for some blow out sales after Xmas...

Glory Vapes has what they call a STD 510 which is a 510 + Ego outer threaded 650 Mah battery for under $7 a great addition to my RIVA stash until I'm feeling a little more flush and can afford one of those new EGO V's... I also picked up the "Average Joe kit" for my new step mother... (Dad's in his 80's and just remarried... GO DAD) hoping it will save dad some $$ on her nicotine habit, not because she's my favorite person..) for under $20 https://shop.gloryvapes.com/kits/average-joes/average-joes/average-joes Coupon code= ........

I have never heard of a genuine Twist being accidentally turned to a higher voltage. Perhaps this could happen to the non-Joyetech ones but it doesn't appear to be a problem for anyone else.

to the OP (adventuredog)...

I would recommend the Twist or Spinner (although I have never used a Spinner) since they have infinite settings to adjust to your liking.

They really are worth the small amount of money they sell for! I used to pay $9 for a pack of smokes (25) that sometimes wouldn't last an entire day! So the price of a Twist is easily recovered (for me) in a few days.

Relax, Enjoy!
