Hey guys,
I am waiting on 2 ego twist 650 may batteries to come in the mail. I'm very excited, as I am currently using a blu auto battery. My question is what voltage to start with? I have a mini vivi nova and some 2.1 ohm ego clearomizers coming in the mail as well. I also saw that the nova comes with heads in different ohms. Any suggestions on where to start?

We ordered 2 of them exactly one month ago tomorrow, 1 just had the "blink of death" it randomly started blinking and now won't cut on or off.. but before it bummed out it was great for us set on voltage 4.0 if you turn it all the way up to the max the clearomizers we were using (the stardust/ce4/whatever u wanna call it) they tasted burnt and had dry hits. Other than the apparent "randomness" of them stopping working it was a pretty good battery. Hope you have better luck with your batch!

For a 2.1 ohm CE you will probably want to use around 4 volts. That would put the wattage around 8 watts but you may want to run a little less depends on what you want. Here is a chart I keep handy. May be of some use to you.

2.4ohm vivi nova sweet spot voltage will be 4.0-4.2, anything higher or less will taste burnt/not strong enough.

I am very similar. I use 2.4ohm heads at 3.9, but I also like a "cooler" vape. As was previously stated, it is easiest to just go from the lowest setting and move up. Every person's juice preferences are different.

It depends more on juice than anything else, in my experience.

If I knew nothing, I'd start at 3.6V and adjust, pretty much regardless of what device I'm using.

The way I actually vape, I start at 4V for LR and 5V for SR, since I've never had anything perform well lower than that. But, I've also neer used anything really low resistance.

Start at the Twist's lowest setting and adjust up to your desired taste.
You will probably like a different setting with every juice and every head.

Totally agree. I think this is the best way. just gradually raise the voltage until it suits your preference. Also look online, there are charts and suggestions for oms and voltage levels.

Awesome thanks! I'm pretty excited for the nova and ego twist. I get so much burnt taste from the Blu... I'm hoping this upgrade will enhance the flavor for me an give less of the burnt taste

The blu batteries are not capable of burning juice with the cartomizers they have to use, unless they've changed something.

They're burning because you're running out of juice and actually burning the filler inside the cartomizer.

……unless I'm missing something.

Or…………if you smoked filtered ultralights or something, it could be too hot……at which point you should probably take the opposite of my advice and start at the lowest setting possible.

Oh, and will there be a huge difference in the vape between the voltage settings?

IMO, yes. Absolutely.

For the things I ended up vaping "high" on my twists (with the voltage cranked all the way up), it steadily progressed from little to no vapor and no flavor through starting to get flavor, to warm vapor, nice flavor, and good TH, to "intense" of everything.

The voltage dial is basically a "vapiness" knob. And unless you're using something way to high-resistance for those batteries (right about 2 ohms is where I think they perform well) the difference is pretty big.

I've had my twist/mini-nova combo for about a week now and have only been using the 2.4ohm head. Depending on the juice I've been vaping at 3.9 to 4.3v. The lighter juices like apple, lime, piña-colada have been at the lower end and darker juices like coffee and Captain Black cigars at the higher end. Not a huge amount of experience her but I hope this helps. Happy vaping!

Thanks, but... That pic is VERY tiny, and the excel file doesn't open up looking anything like the image you attached.

What do I need to do to view your image in full size, is it on a certain page of that excel file or ??? :)

Thanks!

All that chart is doing is calculating voltage based on desired wattage in the range of 6-8W IIRC, which I find a bit conservative.

The formula you need is Voltage = sqrt(Power * Resistance).

The "problem" with calculating things that way (as well as variable wattage mods) from my point of view is that the power I want to get out of my device is more based on juice than anything. Some of my juices work well at 7-8W. Others work well at 12W……in the same device.
