variable voltage & variable wattage?

Ok I pretty much understand the variable voltage. But I don't really understand the variable wattage. What actual difference does the wattage make? I've used the spinner style vaporizer and I can tell a different taste depending on voltage but was looking into upgradeing and just wanted to know exactly how adjusting the wattage comes into play.

Hey Eric, in general....... With variable voltage you square the voltage, divided by the resistance of the atomizer equals the wattage. (V (squared) / ohms = watts). For example, 4 volts on your spinner, divided by a 2 ohm cartomizer, would equal 8 watts ((4x4) / 2 = 8 watts). With a variable wattage device you would set the wattage desired and the device does the calculations behind the scenes.

Variable voltage is manual control of the output of power used to fire your atomizer, variable wattage is automatic, so if you set it to 10 watts and change your tank or your resistance goes up the mod will keep you at 10 watts of power.

Wow, thank you, I didn't understand before I read this!

You're welcome. There's a little more involved, but I just wanted to give you the easiest and most basic explanation possible to not confuse you more ATM. If you want more of an explanation you would need to learn a bit about ohms law like John Lever said and get an ohms law calculator.

Simple version is it's just a convenience thing. The voltage is adjusted automatically based on the coil resistance so you get (more or less) the same level of heat.

Like I tend to prefer being around ten watts. Some of my coils are 2.1 ohm, others are 1.5 ohm. Instead of having to change voltages to fit the coil, I leave my VTR set at 10 watts and it sets the voltage for me.

So I get a pretty consistent vape without having to "twiddle" settings as much.
