With a mech mod the only way to "fine tune" your vape is to build a new coil. With a regulated mod (and its buck/boost circuitry) you can "fine tune" with a push of a button. On a mechanical mod your voltage drops as you vape, with a regulated mod this does not happen.

To your statement "More vapor with a mech mod." No, that is not true. 80 watts is 80 watts, regardless of how you get it.

Like my mechs and my regulated. Mechs have the big plus of not having much to go wrong and with a nice 8.4V set up you can get a great vape without sub-ohming, but regulated are much easier to set up and can get a great vape from most coils rather than needing the right coil for the vape. If you are using rebuildables I don't think the differences are that great.

Yeah regs are for when you miss ones "target Ohms", damn was going for 0.4, oh well, slap it on the T6 an push it to 74, :lol;

If by looking at me collection is any indication, I prefer Mechs, apparently. :D but seem to enjoy the frak out of a high powered reg too. Thing I love about mechs, is their simple elegance, as long as there is juice in both ends one always gets vape. Thing I love about high amp reg's, is can push high watts without building so low, can just bump it up and test ones building skills.

it all comes down to balance. ones skills, knowledge and gear has to be in balance to get the most out of their gear and vape. Just because one owns something that can put out 100-150 watts or more, doesn't mean one will be able to sustain a great vape at that level, frak, can't vape very long at 100 watts or more without having to take a nap, or something like that. :lol::D

Regulated mods are safer. Mechanical mods require a bit of math and a few good calculators for safe use. And in both you want good quality batteries and a good charger. Beyond this basic difference it can get deep but consider safety first. Then if you decide you want to do sub ohm building or stuff many regulated mods won't do then it's time for more homework.

hmm, all me regulated mods will sub ohm quite nicely, down to 0.20, which I believe qualifies as sub ohm zone, or something like that.

Regardless whether one chooses regs or mechs, still need to be on good terms with Mr Ohm and his Laws to get the most of ones vape. Just saying:D

If your unfamiliar with batteries and the safety parameters regarding them, read up before trying a mech. They're usually fine if your using clearos, but they put out a flat 4.2 volts on a fresh charge. Lots of stuff to know about before trying subohms.

Personally, I like both, for different purposes. If I'm going to be cloud chasing, I'm going to use a mech. If I'm using a tank and looking for a more... "refined" vape, I'll use a regulated, namely my P3. I've never seen the need for anything much above 50 watts myself, and my Reo is usually putting out around 40 watts or so.

They both have a place and different applications. Nowadays, it's more of a preference thing

well 2 years of electrical training, 8 years as a plant electrician in an aluminum foundry. From 1980 to 93 worked in the automotive trade, 93 till 2001 worked in the foundry. 2001 till the present have worked in Chrysler dealerships, specializing in electronics and electrical. I'm the guy who likes to find the shorts and opens in the 5 volt sensor circuits in the engine controls. I know I'm nuts, but I haven't been out of work since the 70s. ohms law is almost 2nd nature :) Mostly just like to collect toys.

Truthfully,

I can get just as good a vape out of a 21 dollar Mechanical clone as the Folks I work with get out of their 200 dollar god Mods....

The trick is in the coil.

And I hate Buying Regulated mods every 6 months cause a 22 penny micro switch died...

You sound like you know what your doing.

I bought a clone Nemesis and some battery's that matched my builds. Now I looking for Authentic stuff. I just watch my builds and clean threads when I change batteries.

And I dont worry about the bleeping thing going belly up on me anymore in the middle of a bad day!
