So far, I've found that a 50/50 mix of grain alcohol (everclear) and vinegar works best at cleaning atomizers. 12-24 hour soak and they're close to good as new, though they don't stay clean quite as long as a new one. After a couple hours of soaking, there are particles floating around so this seems like a good combo.

I am curious, has anyone tried acetone as a cleaner? I'm not sure if it would corrode any of the parts or not. As far as safety, as long as it's 100% acetone, it will evaporate without a trace, and I've been using the oven set at 200F to dry my cleaned atomiers.

Unfortunately everclear is not available here. Ive been thinking of trying the crest blue method and maybe before the atty is clogged. How long do you put them in the oven for?

20 minutes or so. I blow them out before placing them in the oven. Any extra water should vaporize in that time.

There's no reason that I know of why ethyl alcohol wouldn't work, as long as the atomizer was dried. I haven't tried pure vinegar, though I've found the 50/50 solution works better than alcohol alone. I need to try just vinegar, and see how that compares.
