Hi,

I purchased a Green Smoke e cig.

I have been researching Propylene Glycol. Today I went and asked my Doctor about it. He did not really like it. Said in the long run it can cause some problems. I suggested the Vegetable Glycerin and he said he did not know but would probably be better.

However here is my problem. Green Smoke does not seem to sell Vegetable Glycerin cartridges?

Does anyone know any companies that supply Vegetable Glycerin cartridges with fresh atomizers that would work with the green smoke e cig?

Did he mention which problems he thought it could cause.... or was he just erring on the "safe side" because he didn't know?

He said in the long run it could cause some nausea and indigestion. He also keep saying "It's a solvent" and shaking his head. lol

I think was he was just erring on the safe side. When I asked him about it he said thats a bio chemist question and that i would probably have a better chance asking a pharmacist. So pretty much he just went into his office for five minutes and googled it. Which is what I did so I dunno.

Those arent really doctor terms that would encourage me in making any decision one way or another.

Basically your doctor is saying "hrm the word propylene glycol doesnt sound as safe as a word with vegetable in it"

Doctors really shouldnt be able to give recommendations without proof/reason, and it sounds like he did his best at skirting the issue without committing himself without direct knowledge.

I am a pharmacist and pharamceutical companies have been utilizing PG and Glycerin in inhalation preparations(inhalers and nebulizer solutions) for some time now. Granted not at the concentrations that are reached with E-cig products. There are to date no generally peer-reviewed studies that show safety to pulmonary tissue at these concentrations, but, as a matter of common sense; as long as USP grade PG or Glycerin is used, it must be several orders of magnitude safer then smoking analog cigarette combustion products. That doctor really shouldn't have commented, either way, until he did a relevant info search. For more info on Glycerin and PG go here:

I wonder if he knows that they intentionally put this "solvent" in the respirators at hospitals..... (sigh)....

It's also mixed with the medications used in nebulizers - it's what makes anyone doing a breathing treatment exhale "mist" that looks like smoke.

Wasn't there a published study floating around recently that declared PG safe since somewhere around 1940? PG has been used in everything for decades.

Look at the ingredients in lotions, creams, mouthwash, additives for inhaled medications (albuterol inhalers contain PG, as well as the nebulizer meds I mentioned above)

Doctors (health care professional in general) follow the CYA rule of thumb these days, and when they know nothing about something, they have to act as if they do - it's a rule :D

It's quite sad actually.

Vapor4Life carries 100% vg cartomizers. However, they wont fit your model. Your model is compatible to LeCig D2, Smoke 51 DUO, E9, and Bloog cartomizers.

There is nothing on my greensmoke cartz that say they expire. However, some manufactures recommend to use a pre filled cart within two weeks after opening it. Personally, the greensmoke ones tasted really bad to me and I rinsed them out with hot water, blew out the water, let them dry overnight and refilled with good tasting juice. :D

If you are really concerned over using PG vs VG you can try mixing a high MG ( like 24 MG PG e-juice) with a percentage of VG . I cut mine by 30 % and try to arrive at an 18 MG mix. Sometimes I combine a neutral e-juice , like RY#4 , with a fruit flavor. If you try this you will need to cut the VG with distilled water , usually 20 % is sufficient, as the glycerne tends to be really thick. You didn't state the device you are using, so if you use a two part system , cartomizer & battery, you can refill your own using the method above. if you choose not to mix, Vapor4life has VG only cartomizers but only in a limited flavor.
Hope this helps as I found the full PG rather hard on the throat and sinuses and found relief using this method.
