I don't have a Nautilus, but I have followed some of the reviews and threads. I am curious if anyone has tried a vertical coil in this tank yet? From what I have seen of its design, it appears that the head is almost a perfect design for a vertical coil with cotton wicking wrapped around it, securing it in place and wicking from the side material. Seems like it would wick well from the side fill material, and the wrapped wick would close the sides, making the air funnel through the vertical coil. I know that there are vapers rebuilding these heads, and would like to know if someone has tried this build yet. Seems like it might be worth a try. I could get interested in this tank if a build like this gets this tank cranking.

Yes, the wick would go around the outside of the coil. Cotton should work fine to wick from the sides. I'd prewick the coil between the coil and the long leg, install the coil, then tidy up the wicking with a paper clip around the exterior of the coil, making sure the channel through the coil was clear of any cotton. It seems the cotton should wick fine from the sides, and the exterior cotton wrap would constrict airflow up through the center of the coil, making for a very efficient build. I run these vertical coils with exterior wicking in a couple of ProTank 2s, and it really makes them shine.
