... absolutely true, but the original question DID not state unprotected or had IMRs pictured. :)
Huh? What is this?

what is the cut off current on this board?
it says the input is 3-30v. do unprotected batts shut off at a certain voltage?

Seems unprotected was most definitely stated as was a picture of an unprotected Li-Ion batt.

This cell does NOT have an integrated PCB. Please be sure you fully understand how this product functions, how it should be charged and discharged and the proper handling of this battery type before attempting to use this battery.

Thanks Willy....I really thought I was going blind. I also though I saw unprotected.

MD that cut off voltage only means that they could go "boom" if discharged below that voltage. Just like all Li-Ions.

thanx, guys! so it goes ka-boon!!! no cut-off?
Try them in the mod, checking your voltage as you go as a test.

If you vape at 4.5V, add the drop out volts of 1.2 giving you a total voltage of 5.7 (2.85V each). See if the mod/reg stops outputting at that point. I don't think in a vaping situation you'll ever get them low enough to explode (baring a direct short). Might get too low to recharge though.

Baring an actual short, seems any mod voltage over 4.2 should be fine, as long as they age well.

Some of the flashlight fanatics prefer unprotected for the little extra oomph they seem to provide.

I get 4-6 hours vaping time with these 16340 AW IMR batts. Pretty decent for only having 550mAh.

I got a juicer one done the other day. It fits a 6ml juicing bottle. The enclosure is a transparent blue Hammond 1593 that I got at digikey.

I really like this one-piece tubing for the feed line with the transparent tubing between the mouthpiece and atty. You can see the drops going in when you squeeze the bottle, so I rarely have the atty leaking.

The transparent feed line tubing I got at amazon: Translucent Tygon Versilic SPX-50 Silicone Tubing, 1/16" ID, 1/8" OD, 1/32" Wall, 10' Length

And the transparent tubing that fits between the mouthpiece and atty I got at Lowes. I can't remember the diameter of it, I think maybe 5/8", but not sure. I had taken my atty with me and tried the different tubings they had to see which one fit snug.

Lovely as usual Mamu, and the colors are great! No lights on this one? I've only started making 2 that weren't juicers, and neither were worth finishing.

TY asdaq. No lights cuz I got lazy.

It's a shame your mods didn't work out but don't give up. :)

I would buy that in a heartbeat...I am not a modder by ANY means... Nice job!! :)

TY Debb!

Great minds think alike, I put together a juicer using this chip just after you posted it.

Suh-weet mod Stoned! I really like the way the board is separated. Is that a 9-volt battery space that the circuit fits in? Where did you get the case?

thanks for the great idea.

I was going to go scrounging in our apps lab for eval boards, but for the price you can't shake a stick at it. I picked up 3 of them(only $9each shipped), of course after I paid I then spotted these 10x 3A DC-DC step-down power MP2307 module KIS-3R33S Z - eBay (item 160485452192 end time Oct-25-10 08:16:25 PDT) and picked up 10 of them($1ea shipped) just need some input and output caps although the input cap probably won't be necessary and a pot which I have cabinets full of reels of tantalum caps and drawer after drawer of pots, so this should make for a neat mod. Mamu's is about 37x24x18 with those big electrolytic caps, the china special one is 21x21x7 and should be a lot easier to fit in. Sucks to be buying an MPS chip, DIE MPS DIE, but for $1 each, it's worth a shot. The other bonus is that I can put in any pot I want and glue it anywhere I want so I'll have easy external access to adjust. After I play with these I'll probably only be using 2 so I'll be giving the rest out to my brother modders in need :)

Now to find suitable batteries :D

Most be nice...I would love to find a cheep source for 100uf through the board tantalum caps.

Hmm.

A little DIY can make it to an adjustable Step-down Power Supply Module: Just take a few steps as show in the following picture.
Input: 4.75-23V
Output: 0.9-22V

I was also looking at this one, LM2596 based, to see if I can squeeze a juice bottle in without resorting to a wide enclosure. It's about 1.7 X .8". Mamu's is actually closer to 1.5 X 1.5".

I got this one for $3 shipped (he has no more), it's about 1 5/8 X 1 1/4" (can't find my metric ruler).
