Are the automatic batteries now or going to be sound activated. Leaford had mentioned in a post a while back that it was changing to sound activated. Need to know before some people order if they are or not. And yes I realize they haven't been for a while, but it was mentioned so I'm trying to find out if this switch has happened.

Why in the world would anyone want a sound-activated battery? That is just plain NUTS!

Prolly because it would allow an easier draw to lite up the ecig, and it wouldn't require a specific vacuum measurement constantly. The precise and actual answer as to why they will install the listening device in the batteries I don't know tho. It could even be a business or manufacturing decision.

Some batteries have touch sensitive buttons, these are not buttons you push, just touch, and the ecig lights up. Here at ECF, there have also been posts about using a touch sensitive circuit at the carto mouth tip, that could activate the ecig by the user's mouth.

I was not aware of the microphone reinstallment until this thread. Is the plan to use both the mike and the flow sensor, or just the mike? To scrap the flow sensors could mean that there is a good reason for it.

I really hope they change the sensors in the KR808 Auto Batteries. I've got two faulty ones in three weeks.

In saying this, I have a Battery from another manufacturer (pretty sure its an RN4081) and the sensor is as good as new after four weeks. The draw detection is instantaneous and draws very easily, and I only need to Vape for 3 seconds with the 4081, compared to 6 seconds with the KR808

I don't know if it was just co-incidence, but either way, it would be nice if V4L offered alternative hardware.. i.e. Type 1 = KR808, type 2 = RN4081

It's also possible that a mike is used in conjunction with a flow sensor, like with an AND gate, instead of either, as with an OR gate. I wonder if some cigs work like that.

I have ordered four new autos in the past couple of months (2 shorties and two regulars as part of my continuous hardware upkeep) and none of them seem to be sound activated. I'm not in the construction business but in my day I play loud music, have two kids that make tons of noise and in working with computers I sometimes find myself in server rooms or working on machines making god awful noises that they shouldn't make and none of these sounds has kicked on the battery. I have noticed the switches are not magnetic anymore (thank goodness) but loud frequencies if they are sound enabled don't set them off.

If they are based on sound my bet is that the receiver is set only to pick up the specific tones created by a draw forcing air through the led end and has a very limited range.

I don't think sound activation is a good idea since external sounds could trigger the device.
The pressure sensor technique is ideal, but it needs to have a simple yet solid system with lesser moving parts as possible, and wont be affected by juice entering the battery.

Anyway what would be great is a battery that has BOTH auto and manual functionality.

i.e. Add a switch to the battery which lets the user select either Auto or Manual.
That way, if the Auto switch fails, you can revert back to the Manual switch if need be.

I hope they are not sound activated. I have some replacements to order, Mom took my v4l batteries and likes them. I will not order sound activated auto batteries from anywhere.

I had sound activated from another company, they went off over anything. Talk about no battery life, they were always going off so when you try to use it, it is dead. At least the cut off time was short enough not to get burned by it.
I hope someone from V4L clarifies this question,
