Hi,

First post thread so stick with me.

I started "not smoking" a couple of years ago. I couldn't stand the smell of my husband's cigarettes so I started sharing with him. Never considered myself a smoker until I was out of town and away from the sharing thing for a few days and noticed I was cranky and antsy and REALLY wanted a cigarette. I've been wanting Hub to stop smoking particularly after watching my beloved father die from esophageal and lung cancer almost 2 years ago. I bought hub a Blu when they first came out, no go. He's been a smoker for about 30 years and was hooked from the first drag. He swears most of it is the carbon dioxide "rush" and we're having a LOT of trouble with his "I'm just not feeling it" attitude. That said he's willing to try. I've not had an analog cigarette in just over a month and I find I LOVE vaping. I love that I still have the ritual of sitting on the porch together, I love the flavors (Mother's Milk anyone? Thank you ECF!) and I'm already a big e-juice addict.

So I've graduated to a Vision Spinner II and a brand new Kanger Protank 3. I like them both although I must say I think I think I love the Spinner with my original Aspire tank but because of the above mentioned e-juice addiction I find I'm going to need at least a handful of tanks...

So before I switch hub over to my new set up (edit: I should mention I've got him using an EVOD with an Aspire tank) any tips and tricks I should know about for someone who #1 won't fiddle with the equipment/doesn't care about equipment #2 claims he's not getting much nicotine (and that carbon dioxide thing) even vaping 24mg juice. And yes, I've been doing a lot of research.

I should add my youngest son is coming for a visit next week and I'd love to get him off of the cigs too so more help is better.

Hey Spooks, been vaping 6 months now. Was a 1-1/2 pad smoker for 30 years. Marlboro Reds. Started on 18 nic V2 red and thier cigalike bats and clearos. Total junk. If not for this forum I would still be smoking stinkies.
Vision spinners, Ego twists and Evod vv bats work fine so you're ok there.
Protanks are great. Especially the single coil version if you are into rebuilding. Only takes minutes with some experience and costs waaaaaay less than buying wick heads. If you have a PT3 and not interested in rebuilding buying the (enclosed) wick heads will get you better performance and longivity over the (exposed) version. Less leaking too.
Juice type is a major contributor to maintenance. Dirty juices like the sweet ones and some naturally extracted tobaccos (nets) can clog things up in a hurry. That said there are some pretty clean vaping nets that taste more like cigs than anything out there imho. That's what it took to get me off stinkies. Nets. If you can sell the hubby on taste you may have a chance. Heathers Heavenly Vapes and Goodejuice both have some clean vaping nets. Just don't try GEJ "acadia gold" as it is too dirty.

Bottom line: if he doesn't WANT to quit he won't. Been there;done that. But keeping him a vaping rig ready to go anytime he feels like trying can't hurt. It is not unusual for smokers to vape for weeks or even months to quit stinkies entirely.
Patience Spooks. Patience.

Thanks and yes I KNOW he won't quit unless he wants to quit. He has expressed interest and is willing to try it and for various reasons he'd like it to work out. I know he's frustrated because he's not getting the "hit" he gets from smoking but at least with the spinner he feels like he's finally getting "some" nicotine. I'm trying to educate myself such that I can (when the time is right each time) I can help him have a better experience. He's a computer programmer, engineer and a day trader but he does NOT like fussing with things that aren't computer code or charts LOL. He's also frugal as they come so the idea of saving $ is very appealing.

We quit cold turkey after smoking many years. Had a baby with bad lungs in the house we wouldn't stop for us but they said it was even on our clothes and hair so we both stopped. We vape for the flavor now I just got ours a month or so ago they say the pg gets you that hit.i use vg veg. Glycerine, I'm making my own went on utube got a recipe. I'm steeping it rt now. (Letting it sit) kinda like tea. It's much cheaper to make and their are all kinds of flavors we liked menthol cigs. So hubby prefers the mint flavors. Ordered a wintergreen it has to be oil free flavors. It's not but it smells so good think I'll put on my wrist..lol
I'm no expert, but if you like getting creative with your flavors a organic veg. Glycerine, 80% 20% boiled water and flavoring to taste we bought ours off amazon. Used vanilla from Walmart it wasn't oil based neither was lemon or orange extract Walmart had vegetable glycerine too.had to buy dropper bottles on amazon it said to use blue or amber not sure why but I did it. My cinnamon roll extract was better after I added a little more vanilla. Let me know how it goes.

Welcome to ECF! I hope whatever you do works and gets him off the stinkies. I myself was very skeptical about the transition from smoking cig's to vaping. I had smoked 2-3 packs of Marlboro Reds for 30 years. Tried to quit in many different ways, but nothing worked. One of my friends was a smoker that bought himself a vape set up. I tried it and fell in love. You mean you can actually taste different flavors than just that ashtray taste!? Bought myself a Silver Bullet and all the stuff to go with it and haven't smoked a tad over a year. Make no mistake, even with the vapeing 24-36mg juices. I still had those "urges" for the Marlboro. But with some support from my family and from a quitline I got past those "urges". Now I can actually smell things and taste things 1000x better. I'm not waking up coughing/wheezing anymore. My lungs feel "clean" again. Although I know in the 30 years of smoking I did quite alot of damage to them. To me it's never too late to quit. Good luck!

Trying looking into getting the iTaste MVP 2, the battery is humongous. The charge could last as long as 2 days, it's one of my favorite mods to date honestly. Also here's a tip if you cant get the nicotine "rush". Trying getting a slow vape (5-8 seconds) then hold it in your mouth for a couple seconds and then inhale, exhaling out the nose for maximum nicotine absorption. I've found that this helps a lot with getting that quick little buzz to help me move along. I hope your husband finds that vaping can be an enjoyable experience for everyone :vapor:

No probs Spooks. A very honorable thing you're doing for the hub. Wish I had the same advantage when I tried getting over.
I vape ego twist clones/1100mah with kanger mini protank 2 ver 2 (1.8ohm single coil). I rewick with koh-gen-do japanese cotton and they hit great even with the factory coils. When the coil gets old, usually 2-3weeks I rebuild them by winding and installing my own coils made from 30 awg temco kanthal. It really isn't difficult once you learn how and the pt2's will hit like a freight train. So will any product using kanger single coils ie. Mini protank 1&2, protank 1&2, evod 1, or aspire davide.
Wick change frequency is juice dependant based on how clean it vapes. 4-5ml change intervals with dirty nets and sugary vapes, 5-10ml with cleaner nets and medium bodied juices and up to 30ml with super clean juices.
I have 3 mpt2's that I keep in rotation and 10 wick heads that I recoil every other month. Easy peezy once you get it down. With the exception of drippers and rba/rda's mounted on mechanical mods nothing will outperform them imho.
All the info you need to rebuild is available here on ecf and on youtube. Maybe if you give it a try your hub will jump in and try. It's actually kinda fun.
Search on "protank micro coil build". There is a lot of great info out there for ya.

Good luck,
:)cig
