Greetings all, newb here who is finding the world of e-cigs fascinating but extremely confusing. I am determined to kick the nasty analog habit and believe its going to work with the help of these little technological wonders.

There is a ton of products out there, and a lot of strange terminology to deal with, like a new language really, but these forums are proving to be a huge help and very educational. Seems folks are pretty united in their efforts to promote the benefits of vaping verses old school smoking.

I have pretty much decided to go two ways:

1) an Ego Twist to smoke at home - I like the idea of variable voltage and tweaking, and its reasonably priced.

2) Something smaller and more cigarette-like for out on the go. I do a lot of walking, waiting at the bus stop, smoke breaks at work, and I would prefer not to have something awkward and wierd looking to attract too much attention, just want to get my vape on and mind my own business really.

To complicate matters I am in Canada, and we seem to be pretty limited in our options up here...

What do you all think, any suggestions for #2?

hi and welcome to ECF,

If you want a cig sized you will find most here will tell you volt, I do know they will ship to canada, but well there is a chance of custom problems.

If you get your 5 posts in and then wait about an hour you can go to the canada forums and someone there can give you the list of vendors in canada.

Hi and welcome! I too am new to this world, but so far I'm loving it. There is so much information to learn that it gets incredibly overwhelming sometimes, but that is why I joined this forum. So far this community seems to be really helpful and encouraging and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help to you, as I'm still learning, but as far as a cig lookalike I have a Blu. I've read a lot of "you can get a better product for your money" posts on Blu and I don't doubt that at all, but what I find is that when I'm out (usually to a bar or a club) I'm out for 5-6 hours and the convenience of the pack that charges my batteries is something I could not go without. Blu does have terrible battery life though, lasting about an hour, but I can recharge 9 times with a full pack charge and I'm perfectly happy with that. Another concern I've seen expressed about Blu is the cartridges burn a lot, but from what I've gathered there are other carts that fit on Blu (I remember seeing a banner for a product called Jet on here at one point that said it works with Blu). They are definitely pricey though for what they are.

I really hope someone with more knowledge and expertise can give you some information.

I would use the Twist for "on the go" and a little something more interesting for at home. Hands down you"ll like the extra voltage of the 650 mah Twist along with it's size (pretty small package). I would think (especially) if your looking to quit analogs, that you not set your self up for failure with a cumbersome , IMHO, week pen style e-cig.
Either the pen style or Twist will occupy a hand so whether it be a sharpie magik marker size or a thicker pen size will really not be a game changer. Just sayin....

I'd suggest a PV (Personal Vaporizer) that doesn't look like a stinkie. You're not smoking, so why should your apparatus look like a cigarette? People often worry about "drawing attention", but the reality is, if you don't appear to be doing something suspicious, people mind their own business. Alot of people are as afraid of confrontation as the next person.

I agree. Once you use variable voltage, the minis are not going to satisfy IMO But, the Volt is a very good option if looking like a cig is important to you.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome to ECF. Post 5 tomes wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and request a Cdn Vendors list in the Canada forum. Lots and lots if vendors up here. #1 vendor in Canada because of price, quality, customer service and always having the latest gear is www.CANVAPE.com.
Cheers.
The Twist is a good PV BUT as someone said once you vape VV you will not enjoy a set voltage PV. I'd suggest a 1000 mah and 650 mah Twist. 100 mah= 1 hr normal Vaping before recharge.

I have a provari Ego twist and and about a dozen other pv's. At home I use the provari the most. When I am out I usually take an ego twist which I use in the truck while driving and a few mistics pv's the rest of the time. I can easily put 3 or four mistics in my pocket and have never run out.
They are sold at Walmart for about $7 for one battery and a cartridge. The flavor isn't bad and the cartridges can be refilled. At that price you can try it and if you don't like it throw it away. If you do like buy one of the starter kits.

Wow, this many replies so fast? That's what i'm talking about, this is a pretty darn active and unified community!

Funny thing about the Blu, I saw a commercial for the Blu last week while watching the World Poker Championships, and that was basically my introduction to this whole world. I was like "what? what's all this about you mean there's a way out of the analog nightmare??"

I've googled the Volt and the Bloog and they seem like pretty good static voltage options, but i am indeed wary of what folks are saying, the VV experience of the Twist will make these seem pretty weak in comparison.

A 1000 mah for home and 650 mah for out and about is starting to sound like a pretty good option. i've never held one of these things in my hand, how much bigger than a king size smoke is a 650 with all the necessary attachments? Fits snug in a pocket? And what exact attachments do I need? Cartomizers, clearomizers and atomizers is my next big confusion. Why so many dang "izers"?

I agree with some of the others; you will draw less attention with a PV/e-cig that does NOT look like a cigarette! I vape on the public bus constantly all morning, and no one says a word. When I used to do this with a PV that looked more like a cigarette (even though it was black with a blue light at the end... *shakes head*), I'd get looks & sometimes comments (& once I had a woman who wasn't even close enough to smell it with me on the subway who started hacking & saying it was affecting her asthma...until I started LOUDLY discussing the fact that I was NOT smoking with the person I was riding the subway with. *rolls eyes*).

Particularly if you get a Twist, you probably won't end up bringing out the mini very much! All my friends who have used minis & enjoyed them (to varying degrees) initially looked at my eGo & complained it was too big, too weird looking, etc & whatever. Yet they all asked to try it...and try it again...and all enjoyed my eGo FAR more than their minis. The throat hit & vapor production via a mini just isn't nearly as awesome & satisfying as it is with something with more power to it, such as the eGo.

If you're really set on having a mini, I recommend something 510-compatible (there's always the Joye 510!). This way, any attys & cartos & whatever whatever whatevers you might get will be compatible with your eGo.

I love love love my eGos. Love 'em! I started with some piece of junk from the gas station (before those nJoys were available everywhere for $10 - I think I paid $50 for my PoS! *blush*), then had the M401, moved to the 510, and upgraded to the eGo so I could use my 510 stuff with it & I'm still glad I did! I currently like to use Vision/Stardusts/CE4+ clearomizers on my eGo 1000mAh Twist battery. I also have a 1000mAh eGo passthru battery (much love! wish my Twist was a PT!), as well as one of my original 650mAh eGo batteries. That 650 one seemed so HUGE when I switched from my 510s, but now seems so tiny! *lol*

I'd recommend getting two or three eGo Twist batteries in 650mAh; I really don't think you'll mind once you actually get vaping! You could try a 510 grab&go passthru battery, one that you can use while it's charging on your computer, but then unplug it & take it with you - then you can continue to get use from it if you do, in fact, find you don't really end up using it on the go.

In my opinion, while vaping can be an excellent replacement for smoking, it doesn't exactly replicate smoking. Very quickly you begin to love it because it ISN'T like smoking, and then DON'T want it to remind you (or anyone around you...) of smoking! Heehee! So while nearly all of us start out with the idea of it looking like a cig & getting tobacco flavors & such...it doesn't take long at all to feel like moving to other flavors (I liked baked goods once I switched from tobacco-based vapes & I'm currently all about fruits!) & finding the visual appeal in PVs that don't remind us of cigarettes. :)

Good luck, and welcome to the wild wide world of vaping! *grin*

Some great advice there Kailey, thanks for taking the time. We have some pretty strict smoking laws up here though, smoking on a bus would be akin to 1st degree murder I think. Vaping on a bus would only bring it down to 2nd degree i think...

A plan is starting to formulate in my head. With all the positive talk on the Twist, I'm thinking of getting 2 650's and 2 1000's to deal with any charging issues...

And yet so many good comments on the Volt I think i may either try it out as well, or the Joye 510 you mentioned. I spend so much cash on smokes, that spending a bit on this equipment is not going to be a big deal for me, luckily I can afford it and if it gets me off the bad stuff its more than worth it. The Volt doesn't happen to come in a souped up VV version does it? A VV Volt?
