Very strong and strange bitterness in Blue Mist flavors, including RY4.5

Even after steeping for a week, and raising the juice temperature to close to 170F for an hour, I'm getting a very strong bitter flavor I can't quite describe from some of my Blue Mist juices. RY4.5 definitely has it in the strongest concentration. Whatever it is, it immediately makes me gag. It tastes like some kind of chemical bitterant added to inhalants as a deterant. It's almost like a harsh pepper or something hitting the back of my throat in one spot and staying there. I know that many people have a problem with the flavors from Blue Mist, but I really think this is above and beyond the normal 'it needs to steep' issues. What I'm asking is if anyone can identify what this flavor might be, and therefore help me determine how I might counteract it and save some juice.

I have had the same experience with their robacco menthol, smooth and even cookies & cream. I'm thinking it's a touch of capsaicin (pepper) intended to create throat hit, but I just get a scratchy burn. It didn't drop off with steeping for me, so I'm guessing it's not alcohol. Their hypermint is strong in flavor but doesn't have that effect. Maybe some of us are more sensitive to it than others - I don't like much throat hit.

As for trying to counteract it, I've mixed it with other mild juices but it seems that even in small quantities I get that burn in the back of my throat. I have most of a 180ml bottle of 16mg cookies & cream that I can't vape.

I think you might be right there. It would at least make some kind of sense why it is there. Mixing in some catalan cream seems to have toned it down some, but it's so prevalent it ruins the whole thing. I can't taste caramel, vanilla, or anything like an RY4. I had their RY4.5 before and it wasn't nearly this bad, but that was before I started getting taste buds back. I'm vaping the Robacco Cherry right now and I don't notice any evidence of it. Bananas Foster, although a weak flavor, also didn't have any of it. I suppose it could be the tobbaco base has a flavor I just don't like, but if there are people who actually like this effect then I have about 120ml of RY4.5 . A few weeks back I made an extract of cayenne and regular black pepper and added a few drops to some flavors to add throat hit as a test, and while I wouldn't say it was good, it wasn't nearly as horrifying as this flavor. It reminds me of smelling cardboard and trash all at once.

I figured it out. It's fennel. Doing some reading showed me that this might be an expected ingredient in some RY4s. I can't stand it. I love Rye bread, but I wasn't intending it in a vape. I guess the RY4s I've liked haven't had it in there, and this was my first run in. I don't know if I'll be able to squash it, but at least I know.

i wrote blue mist off a long time ago..i think the quality control in there juice making sucks.

I haven't written BMV off entirely, but I will only go back to the, for the 3 or 4 flavors I have enjoyed after MUCH trial and mostly error.

BMV likes: vanilla mint, peppermint, smooth, honeysuckle tobacco.
BMV dislikes: about 30 other juices.

Lots of juices I haven't tried from them but liking about 10% of the ones I've tried doesn't bode well for liking many of the rest, and why waste good money searching for a couple of more likes when other vendors like HHV, NLV, and Vermillion River have so many juices that I have liked right off the bat. HHV, for instance, out of 8 sampler pack bottles I LOVED 3, really liked 3, and kind of liked 2, but wouldn't probably order again. None were horrid, none.

I'm not sure that BMV has QC issues, as the juices I have reordered have all been consistent in taste, color, and aroma. I think their ingredients and recipes are the likely problem. And someone's palate there is seriously different than mine.

That vanilla mint is good, and STRONG! I mean 1 drop in anything strong to add some mint. I haven't tried it by itself yet. Not brave enough.

Did you get it with the extra shot of flavor? The minty part of mine, without extra flavor, is fairly subtle while the vanilla (actually I get a vanilla extract in chocolate milk) is the more dominant taste to me. Just wondering if your is extra strong, though I never did steep as you did with the cap off and heating to evaporate the alcohol (are you sure there is EtOH in it? Thought just pg vg and flavorings). I've gotten this juice three times, first a 10 mL bottle to sample, then right away a 30 and then another, and they haven't varied in taste too much IMO.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Newbie here so take with grain of salt. 3 days into it. My first juice order was from BMV. 80/20 16mg extra flavor in all. So far the 3 i have tried, all had strong flavor. Nothing chemically or nasty tasting so far. Taste pretty much like discribed. Irish cream, pina colada. They are a little strong on the throat hit. But im new so might just be me. The dragonfruit was a free sample in 100vg 11mg. It was very light almost no TH, flavor was ok. I think it would be good with extra flavor. Also not sure 100vg has enough TH for me. Was very thick though.

I had a good experience with them. just not sure I like the 80/20 or the 100%vg.

Yeah always extra shot, and VG. If it's too strong I'll just dilute. I honestly don't know if the evaporation is necessary, it's just something I do to drive off any solvents in case they are there. It should help mix things together too since you're getting things moving around in the juice.

Blue Mist flavor "Rob's Blackjack" is my all day vape. Some of the other juices I don't care for but Rob's is great...to me.
Taste is one of the most subjective things there is. I usually steep it for at least 2 weeks before use as well.

Rob's Blackjack was on my order as well. So far it's not too bad, but I'm letting it steep. I'll come back to it after a while. As long as it doesn't have fennel in it. Blech.
