Vet needing some rba help

Just started tonight with a aga-t and could use some advice, i have watched a bunch of scotts/petes videos and still having issues, im building with ss mesh and i think 28g wire. When i build this guage wire on a vivi nova i get a nice 3 ohms. But the couple attempts with the aga leave me with just the top coil lighting up and 1.1 ohms. To use this on a vamo, or provari im thinking i need at least 1.5-1.7 ohms, i have tried poking at the coils and still just popping them, started at 3v and worked my way up to 5v..i guess my main question is what size wire is needed on a genisis style to get a good 2.5 ohm 4/5 wrap coil. Thanks

For the wire...28g is iffy without a mechanical mod, my 30g kanthal only gets to 1.4-1.6 ohms with a 6/7 wrap. Try 30 or 32 AWG wire and you should get to where you want...6/7 wrap on 30 for 1.5ish ohms, 4/5 or 5/6 for a 2-2.5ish ohm coil.

As for the oxidization, you don't really need it...there's an unoxidized method out there created by a man Petar K (my favorite method). If you want a description of how to do that check out my blog. Good luck bud!

I'm not completely sure how it works, but I just slide an entire unoxidized wick in and let the coils oxidize the spot where they sit by themselves. Trasher, the guy who taught me how to do this method, has a post in a thread of pictures on how it looks, ill try to find them.

Just to note: Thrasher does his with a mechanical mod. It's difficult to do that method on anything that will "error out" when it perceives a short. With a mechanical mod we can get away with momentary shorts and pulse the coil until it glows evenly. It's particularly difficult on something like my V1 Provari that instantly shows E1 (hard short) with an unoxidized mesh setup.

What's happening with that type setup is the coil oxidizes itself to the mesh through heat (much like torching the wick) as you pulse the coil. It will often begin with the top leg glowing during pulsing and slowly move down the wick until it glows evenly. It's a great way to set up a wick and coil, but much easier with a mechanical mod that doesn't perceive the momentary short circuits.
