Since we have to do the 5 posts before being unleashed, this is #1. I've been around for a while, but not as a member. I frequent the Mod Forums, and some of the stuff I see is really awesome. Being a combat robot builder, I like to tinker with electronics as well, even though LiPo and Li-ion batteries scare the ever-loving CRAP out of me (the batteries our ecigs use barely put out the amperage my robot's batteries do, and I've had those explode).
What I'm working on here is not as much of a mod as some would say, but I see it as more of a fusion. I got Trog's SD Keyring mod a while ago, and loved the size. The diaphragm switch in it got gummed up and turned on permanently, so I couldn't use it anymore. Well, I had a spare eGo laying around, so I thought I would gut that for the button and usb charger, squeeze that all into the SD's tube, and have an adorable little USB passthrough/ecig with more control.
The issue I'm worried about it that, on every one I've torn apart, they all have a ground wire soldered to the casing. Where does that wire connect to, and why? Do I need to use that, or should I build the circuit without grounding to the casing?
